1976 Jensen Interceptor III Convertible "British/Italian/American Muscle car"
1976 Other Makes Mark III
I am proud to offer thisStunning 1976 Jensen Interceptor Mark III Convertible for sale. It is black with tan leather interior and all matching numbers. Hand built with a combination of maximum speed and grace, the Interceptor enjoyed international grand touring on highways without speed limits, like the German Autobahn. Jensen successfully created the Interceptor as a world class Super car that competed directly with Aston Martin, and Ferrari. A total of 6000 Interceptors were built in England from 1966 to 1976, and only 276 were convertibles. This car sold for around $24,000 in 1976. That was about twice the price of the Mercedes 450 SL Convertible in the same year and three times the price of a Corvette..
This car offers a special combination of British-designed interior styling, Italian-designed body (Vignale) and bullet proof American muscle (Chrysler) and was originally known as the "Muscle car with Class". This Interceptor came with a massive 7.2 liter/ 440 cu. in . Chrysler engine with a 4-barrel carburetor that can easily flex it's muscle with over 300+ Horsepower. The transmission is a727Mopar and considered bullet proof by many.Top speed on this vehicle is rated at over 135 MPH. The interior is made up of 6 complete hides of Connolly leather carefully selected for each Jensen - hand stitched and fitted seams. The all steel body is gas and CO2 arc-welded to the chassis for maximum strength and rigidity.
These cars came with a lot of standard "upgraded" features like;
-POWER WINDOWS, POWER DOOR LOCKS,ELECTRIC CONVERTIBLE TOP,AIR CONDITIONING, 4-WHEEL DISC BRAKES, FULL GAUGES INCLUDING TACHOMETER, POWER ANTENNA, DUAL HORNS, INSIDE HOOD/TRUNK RELEASE, TOOL KIT AND JACK IN BAGS, ORIGINAL HARD BOUND OWNERS MANUAL, FACTORY LEATHER BONNET COVER.
I purchased this car from an estate in Nevada back in January 2010. Since my ownership I have installed new exhaust from the engine back, complete tune up and fluids service, detailed the car in-side and out, and had special leather headrest pillows made to match the seating.
Overall this car is in great shape and drives very well. It has nice Radial tires, paint looks pretty good with the exception of some minor scratches and cracks in select areas. I had the driver side rocker panel professionally replaced as it was dented. the only items still requiring attention are; the AC will need to be charged, the horns and wipers are not currently working (probably dirty electrical connectors). Other than these items the car is ready to drive and enjoy. If you have been wanting to own one of these rare classics then look no further. It doesn't get much better than this. Great color combination and definitely a head turner at car shows or just out and about on a weekend drive. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule an inspection and test drive.These cars are going to continue to appreciate over time and are considered a great investment.Good luck bidding!
