In 1965, eneral Motors knew exactly what Oldsmobile stood for: "Engineering," says former Olds designer Stan Wilen. Olds made a point of accentuating its engineering leadership. If you were looking for something nicer, portier than a Chevy, ou'd buy a Pontiac. If you were too embarrassed to buy a Cadillac, ou could buy a Buick--it was a doctor's car." On October 14, 965, n an effort to maintain its crown as GM's engineering division, ldsmobile launched the all-new Toronado, ts most radical car in a 68-year history of innovation.
Enter the Toronado. Weighing 4800 pounds, 11 inches long, nd riding on a 119-inch wheelbase and the first front-drive production car made in America since the 1937 Cord 810 and 812. Its long hood and short, true" fastback deck proportions were exaggerated, ut the long dash-to-axle ratio betrayed what lay underneath: a longitudinal 425-cubic-inch, 0-degree V-8 engine. With a dual-snorkel air cleaner, n extra-large intake manifold, nd twin exhaust pipes, he Toronado had a gross output of 385 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.
The new Toronado was the talk of the industry and motoring press at its debut and a month later was selected by Motor Trend magazine to be the publication's 1966 'Car of the Year'.
One of the finest designs of the era, f not the single finest.A pinnacle car from a pinnacle era. Then add the Deluxe edition and you have the finest of the rarest.
Never again will there be such power Cruisers. Not a Toy for boys but a piece of American Automotive History. An appreciating asset that can be enjoyed by its proud owner.
The 66 Toronado is a muscle car that crosses boundaries from a very capable street fighter to a high end luxury car.Because of that, nd because it cost more than just about any other muscle car of the era makes for the possibility for one like this to exist in original form.Something this expensive was less likely to have the standard issue muscle car abuse and neglect program given to GTOs, amaros, tc... then slapped back together then called original today.

1. This SATIN BLACK 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado is a time capsule.
This car was ordered new by G. Walker of Indiana, ith all the bells and whistles. Deluxe model with Custom ordered Parchment Interior (Off White) and black Dash, nserts and carpet. Tinted windows, indscreen, etractableseat-belts. Power windows, ower brakes, /C etc. It also came with the rare option of reclining front passenger seat
He passed away in 1980. It was then inherited by his daughter & son in law. It was very well taken care of by them for a decade and almost complete service records are there. In 1981 the Transmission was professionally rebuilt by Amco at 40,000 miles at a cost of $ 675. In 1988 they started a complete restoration on the car. Engine professionally rebuilt & repainted at 97307 miles in 1988 including new PS pump & starter. Total cost $ 2391. In 1989 it was completely stripped down to bare metal, ll / any rust repaired and repainted at a cost of $ 2,666. In 1990 the interior was completely redone, eats, arpet, eadliner, isors, elt, oor panels & trunk liner. All records and documentation are there and will come with the Car.
Thereafter it was sold to a collector in Kentucky. Thereafter it sat in his garage for almost 25 years. The interior of the car was covered with blankets all this while and thus survived very well.
We put a new windscreen, ixed the headlight actuators and performed a mechanical check. The car has now received a brand new Satin Black paint job that gives an excellent sheen to its muscular lines. This is NOT a RAT ROD black or Flat Black, ut a nice Satin finish. If you prefer another colour, his is an excellent undercoat to get a show quality finish.

3. Black 1966 Toronado.
Best colour combination. This is the first and best year of the Toronado. It represents the age of personal luxury.
Currently these cars are undervalued, ut coming up in value very quickly! Especially the one year only 1966 version.
MECHANICAL: This car runs beautifully with all original and numbers matching drivetrain. The motor is the 425 big block with 4bbl, ower steering, ower brakes. She floats down the road all day at 80 mph!
We just recently tuned her up, hanged all fluids, nd belts flushed and boiled the radiator, dded new water pump, oses, nd she runs cool, tarts easily. BRAND NEW TIRES
We completely rebuilt the brakes including new wheel cylinders, nd all turned drums and new shoes, he stops great.
INTERIOR: Fabulous Elvis Presley red, ood headliner, nd dash, nd door panels. Needs new rubber around the windshield, nd rear glass, eaks in heavy rain or car wash. The 1966 only jet fighter steering wheel is in great shape. Carpet and mats have been replaced from original, ook good.
FUSEBOX issue. Dash lights do not work. Some rust on Dash.
PAINT & BODY: As far as I can tell, he car has never been hit or any panels replaced. The car is complete with all its badging, nd trim. The car was originally gold, any years ago it was poorly painted black. The paint is cracking on the hood, nd you can see where the paint has failed, he gold underneath shows through. This car needs a re-paint. There is bondo in the rear lower quarters that should be repaired when repainted. This car was a northern car and has had some rust repair underneath that works, ut was not professionally done.
