1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass

First, it’s a shame to see this car go because it’s so fun to drive. Four-door hardtop allows rolling the windows down and having a wide breezy ride with no post between front/back windows, which is why it’s sometimes called a hardtop convertible. Took it for a spin last weekend for the beauty pics and a cruise downtown, including highway speeds.Car has all the right patina for a 52-year-old car, including dings, wrinkles, and general fading. It still gets a lot of positive attention from spectators.Buyer to pick up or transport at their own cost.

This has an original & extremely clean 350 Rocket engine with probably 109,000 miles backed by a TurboHydromatic 350 transmission. It has an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke, and I just installed a new fuel pump. Car has minor oil drip from oil pan gasket but does not burn oil. It could use an easy/cheap paint job or a vinyl wrap to really spruce it up. I have kept it in the garage out of the weather since I bought it.

Upgrades/Inclusions: It used to have old lady hubcaps, but I swapped those out for 15x8 Rally III wheels with new-old-stock tires, center caps, and fresh trim rings (~$800 value). The car only has drum brakes in the front, so I’m including some newish (never installed, but stored in the garage)heavy-duty rotors, calipers, pads, and spindles to convert the front drums(~$500). The passenger mirror missing in pics can be found in trunk to restore original or install 1971-1972 sport mirrors that I included.

Faults/Blemishes: The paint is clearly faded in parts; could use new spray or vinyl wrap. Various dings and scratches acquired over the years; dent in right rear shown in photos. The vinyl top needs to be replaced or removed to paint over without it; I have found no rot on the roof. The car could use some new shocks and general refreshments (brakes). It is fitted with AC but needs service.

Rusty summaries: Frame is solid, but found an 18” gash under passenger footrest, requiring a Front-Right Quarter floor pan patch; I never realized it because I never drive in the rain nor had a passenger to let me know. Previous owner installed new carpet, covering the hole, but the underside of the carpet is still clean (not soaked or road filth). Rest of floor pan is solid/clean; trunk has some surface rust on inside, but the trunk floor is solid. Inspected below rear window for signs of rust damage and found none, feeling under the vinyl and looking from inside the trunk. There is a rust patch behind the front right wheel, and small spots shown in photos at other three wheels.

While sedans aren’t as popular, they are getting extremely rare. Rare sometimes means valuable. I’m not saying they’re worth tens of thousands, but we’ve seen two separate 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme sedan sin the same color list for over $40K (delusional, I know, unless you want to pay me that, then fine). This is an affordable avenue to a unique muscle car.
