1961 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight
This Beauty was customized for YAHOO in 2004 by Hot Rods & Custom Stuff of Escondido, Ca., a shop that has built Ridler award winning cars. YAHOO put $75,000 into the customization andused the car in a months long promotion to enter the cell phonebusiness. At the end of the promotion, YAHOO gave the car away to one lucky winner.
This car started as a clean, low mileageCaliforniacar. The body was straightened to perfection and painted House of Kolors "Passion Purple" with a silver mini flake top. The chrome was re-plated and the stainless trim was polished.
The original style interior looks new and has been upgraded with the addition of a custom console containing the Kenwood touch screen audio/video control. The A/V system was installed by Haas Electronics ofCulver City, Ca. The console mounted touch screen operates the DVD player, Navigation system, Sirius Satellite Radio, ten disc CD changer and is Ipod compatible.
Sound is provided by 8 interior speakers and 3 trunk mounted sub woofers. The trunk is fully detailed and contains the 10 disc CD changer, the navigation system, two amplifiers and a play station II with wireless remotes. (this is currently not hooked up).
Under hood detailing mixes chrome paint and stainless fasteners to provide tasteful good looks. The suspension system has been lowered, steering has been upgraded with an AGR Billet Cruiser steering box. The charging system includes a 140 amp Powermaster alternator. Cooling is handled by a four row radiator and dual Spal fans.
Rolling stock consists ofYokohamatires on Budnik wheels, sizes are: 215/40ZR17 front AND 245/40 ZR18 rear. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2012.
The car was in the 2004 SEMA show and has won numerous awards at car shows inIllinois,Missouri,VirginiaandCalifornia. The car was featured in the 2012 OLDSMAR,FloridaOLDSMAR DAYS Celebrating R. E Olds. (Mr. Oldsmobile)
There is a build book from Hot Rods and Custom Stuff for the build of the car and a box of instruction manuals for all the electronic equipment in the car.
You will get tons of attention driving this gorgeous baby.
The mileage is the original mileage and will be higher than this as I drive the car to shows almost every weekend.
