Up for auction is a 1954 Oldmobile Eighty Eight 4 door Sedan. This car is a complete body off restoration. The car is a local North Carolina car. We have a scarp book from the beginning of restoration to the end. The restoration on the car was $45,000+.
A quick story about this car. My father purchased it from a close family friend. His dad bought a new 88 (same car as one for sale) in 1954 and took the family in that same year to Canada. The family friend purchased this car (not the same car as taken to Canada) in the hopes of restoring it to the same condition as the one his family had when he was a child. This car was found in an old building in Wilkes Co. and he wanted to fix the car up, and take the same trip that he and his family made in 1954. The restoration took nearly 4 years from start to finish. Due to an illness approx. 3 months after the car was completed, the journey back to Canada did not happen, and my father purchased the vehicle.
