1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Tribute
This 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Tribute convertible is one of those cars that's hard to classify but easy to like. Big block V8 power, lots of space, and a great look all add up to a car that gets a lot of attention without breaking the bank. If you're reading this and the car appeals to you, call now, because I can almost guarantee that someone else is thinking the same thing you and it won't be here if you... wait. Not some restomod mash-up, merely a clean, straight classic ragtop with a lot of recent work. The intermediate Cutlass has great proportions and is just the right size for fun today. Grab some buddies and hit the road, there's room for everyone, but it's especially sporty at the same time. The slick light-yellow paint is a sophisticated and subdued finish, and it looks fantastic on the chiseled Olds body. Note the kick-up behind the door that makes the rear quarters look like they're coiled and ready to spring, the subtle flares around the wheel well openings, and the simple hood that eschews scoops and stripes for simplicity. It's just as straight as it looks in photos, and clearly it's lived a good life, which is another reason you shouldn't wait to call; clean cars like this just don't grow on trees, you know. Chrome is also excellent throughout the car, with a lot of it likely being refinished in the not-too-distant past, and overall the car has an outstanding look that's neither over-the-top nor a wallflower. Add in the newer canvas convertible top and aggressive muscle-car stance, and you've got one beautiful droptop Cutty. No disappointments inside, either. There are twin buckets with beautiful light yellow upholstery, a few tasty upgrades, and a performance vibe that's also very grown-up. The seats offer reproduction seat covers that give it a very sporting look that neatly blurs the line between custom and OEM, and the brown carpets are an awesome contrast. Polished metal accents give it an upscale feel, and they cover the console, dash, and even the wood-rimmed steering wheel has the look. The original gauges in the stock housings give it a racy look, and there's a set of three auxiliary SunPro units under the dash to provide further info for the driver, along with a matching tach down on the console. An AM/FM/iPod stereo feeds Bose speakers resting in the corners of the backseat, along with a booming JL Audio subwoofer in the trunk. The tan power convertible top is in excellent condition and includes a matching vinyl boot to really give it a clean look. You'll also note that the trunk is very spacious, and carries a full-size spare, the aforementioned subwoofer, and a period-correct Oldsmobile mat to finish the look. You couldn't get a 455 in a 1967 Cutlass, but it sure looks like it belongs in the engine bay of this droptop. Fully sorted, it was rebuilt to stock specs only 100 miles ago according to the former owner, and runs superbly today as it's barely broken-in. Up top there's a chrome open-element air cleaner and matching valve covers both with the proper 455 badging, along with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and newer wiring harness that help snap the big block to attention quickly. With plenty of torque, moving the big convertible is effortless, and rather than pinning you back with explosive acceleration, this one moves like an electric locomotive with a feeling of inevitability about it. It's also bulletproof reliable, so you shouldn't be afraid to hit the road with this Cutlass, and a giant aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keep the whole show running cool. The underside is very clean and nothing is hidden, so there are no surprises about this vehicle's foundation. Stock-style headers feed a Hooker dual exhaust system and the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission just shrugs off the power running through it. Slick REV wheels have that "old-style" look on this awesome Cutlass, and they wear BFGoodrich white-letter radials for a performance look. We really like this Cutty a lot. It's attention-getting without being too flashy and it backs it up with solid performance. There's a lot invested here but the price could be considered a bargain. Call today!
