This car was built by Air Products in the late 1950's as a display product for Oldsmobile dealers. It was popular enough with college students and vintage car collectors that production was increased for sales to the public. And these cars were licensed for road use. Check the web for more information.
This car came without fenders, so I had a set built and mounted.
It came with electric lights in settings that look like kerosene burner "Neverouts" that came on the original 1903 curved dash Olds. Currently the car sports a set of three replica kerosene burners of slightly later original production. These replicas cost roughly $1500 when I purchased them a few years ago. Mountings were fabricated for these replica lights.
The original Clinton engine (currently non-running) has been replaced with an 8hp Honda engine. An extended exhaust pipe was added to reach to the back end of the body. Run time on the replacement engine is 10+ hours. The car still uses the original two speed centrifugal clutch.
The original fold away top has been replaced. Rotted wood in the body was also replaced.
The tires are a few years old.
Things to note --- The cable operated front brakes are not hooked up. The car comes with original electric lights, front brake cables, and non-running engine (not photographed).
There is a crack in the cast iron housing for the chain transfer (see photo).
Steering is via rotating the entire wheel bar with the tiller, not just turning the wheels at the end of the bar/spring.
The car does not run up hills very well. Depending on weight load it is pretty good on flat/horizontal paved roads.
Current clear Iowa title as 1957 Oldsmobile in my name.
Deposit of $500 via PayPal due within 48 hours of winning bid. Full payment within seven days via PayPal, bank check, or cash on pick-up. Vehicle and title will not be released until check or PayPal has cleared.
Buyer must arrange shipping at buyer's expense. The car weighs maybe 600 (not sure exactly!) pounds and is about 8 ft long, 5 ft 6 in wide and 5 ft 4 in tall with top down.
Please examine photos carefully as they are a main part of the description.
I'm 60ish and my cars don't get enough road time so it is time for this to move on.
