1972 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds Pace Car-REAL W45-Calendar Car-LOW RESERVE

Price: - Item location: Carmel, New York, United States
Description:

1972 Oldsmobile 442

This is not a 442 or clone, real W45 code Hurst/Olds with full Pace Car option, 1 out of 279 HT w/o sunroof. Older cosmetic restoration, full mechanical restoration completed this year. No expense spared, original numbers matching 455 motor custom built with .030 over forged pistons, 9.5 compression (runs perfect on pump gas), roller tip adjustable rockers, HP oil pump (50 psi at 1000 rpm), degreed W31 spec cam, roller timing chain, motor fully balanced and blueprinted (these are not just words but a complicated and costly process), approx 350 HP, factory 4 core radiator, billet aluminum HEI, correct carb, new exhaust manifolds with stock exhaust, rebuilt turbo 400 w/ W30 torque converter, rebuilt 323 rear. A/C system ice cold & completely redone, still uses R12. Also the entire suspension and brake system was rebuilt and detailed. After motor was done, I drove twice from NY to PA, first to attend Hurst Nationals where I won the "celebrity choice" award from the original Hurst Engineers, and lovely Linda Vaughn signed my glove box. The second trip was to the Olds Nationals, where I scored 931 out of 1000 points (have judging sheets) and took a First Place award, I lost points for non original tires, head lights, and some paint imperfections not seen in photos. I built this car to be a show/driver, not a Trailer Queen. If your more concerned about a perfect paint job than a very correct, highly detailed, super clean, great running car, then this is not for you. The car was also chosen for the 2019 Napa Car Calendar. Note: over $60k invested (have 1" stack of receipts), plus many hours of tuning and detailing, if the car doesn't sell by end of auction, it will taken off market and relisted in Spring 2019.
