1981 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Regency Sedan

Very nice 1981 Olds 98 Regency Sedan V8-350 Diesel. The car came out of Colorado and is in pretty nice shape. One very nice repaint. Minor tears in dash pad. Carpets and seats in very nice original condition; headliner replaced. Original vinyl top with some flaws due to wear but pretty nice. A/C blows cold R-12. There is a small vacuum leak in the "pod" under the dash that directs cold vs hot mixed air. I have a work around that shuts off heating air supply during warm months and of course you just open the valve for winter heating. Eventually if I keep her I will locate a new-used POD. Transmission was overhauled and shifts nicely. The engine has some blow by and the Olds does leak oil. The car runs pretty dog-gone well. Last mpg checks came in between 24-26 all purpose MPG. I run AMSOIL SYNTHETIC 15W-40.
There is some corrosion at the bottom of all the doors but all in all the car is very solid. The Oldsmobile diesel fuel mechanical lift pump was replaced with an electric lift pump. Steering wheel has aftermarket leather-style wrap and is cracked. The driver's door weather strip has wind noise. The trunk sometimes won't stay up. The battery discharge light seems to stay on with very faint illumination even though the car starts fine and runs without issues. It has been this way since I have owned it.
The Olds 98 Diesel is driven weakly as a daily driver alongside my 1982 Buick LeSabre Diesel. I have never done a head gasket job on the Olds as I usually wait until they present a problem; however, due to their history one should take this into consideration.
