1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W-30 Tribute

It's hard to imagine a better tribute vehicle than this 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W-30 tribute convertible. This is a classic that has been thoughtfully upgraded everywhere from the proper W-30 performance componets to the cold-blowing A/C. And when it's presented in such a nice color combo, you realize how carefully crafted this muscle machine is. Code-67 Sienna Metallic is exactly the color you want to have on a cool classic. After all, this earthy brown represents the 1970s perfectly,... and it's a shade that is coming back into vogue right now. That's especially true on this one because there was a solid investment in a respray to make sure this factory-correct color has is a deep finish with plenty of metallic in it. But the desire here is also about the total package. The tan side stripes and pinstripes highlight the premium and sporty elements of this Olds by showcasing both the fender flares and the straightness of the sheetmetal. The same can be said for the stipes on the upgrade dual cowl fiberglass hood. You have to love the way even the tan roof fits into coordination. It's the kind of total package that has so much thoughtfulness, that this you'll be giving this classic a nickname (we think it's sweet enough to call it "Root Beer Float".) With all this attention to the color, don't forget to check out the brightwork. This one gets it all correct with mirror-like bumpers that hug the design, twist-down hood locks, and a great set of Mag-style SS1 wheels. As much as we like the way this one looks with the top up, it's just as nice when the roof is down. That's because the interior keeps most of its original elements, and its condition tells you no one neglected this droptop out in the sun. You paid a premium to get the Oldsmobile name back in the day, and so there are plenty of luxury touches throughout. It starts with the optional bucket seat interior. Yours power adjusts for that perfect cruising position. The wood paneling on the center console also matches the doors and the dashboard. There's even the correct AM/FM radio. The driver gets the Oldsmobile sports wheel for the power steering, and beyond that is a full Rally gauge package, including a tach. The His and Hers Hurst shifter allows you to choose to power shift or just let the auto trans comfortably cruise along. The power windows and a power top means you're completely open to the world with just the touch of a few buttons. Plus, you can choose to stay cool even in the summer months thanks to a new air conditioning compressor. Under the hood is exactly what you want to see - a big block V8 sitting in-between the W-30 lightweight red inner-fenders. While this is a tribute machine, it will be up to you to inform people, because the proper W-30 aluminum intake and ram-air diaphragm on the air topper are quite authentic. You even have the correct decals, too! Sure, the motor looks like a beauty, once you fire up the big 455 cubic-inch V8, it reminds you it's a beastly powerhouse. The big block inhales deeply through a four-barrel carburetor, and exhales with thunders authority from the header-fed dual exhaust. Plus, this 442 tribute has all the right pieces to feel correct on the streets. The transmission was correctly upgraded to the stronger TH400 three-speed unit, and there are fully-boxed trailing arms. As you check out those features in the undercarriage photos, don't forget to spot the upgrades like the newer bushings, front disc brakes, and front & rear sway bars. This is the one that has been cared for the way you would, if you had bought it new. We even believe the mileage to be accurate, so it might have only averaged around 1,400 miles annually! There are even more great upgrades and investment we can tell you about, but we already know this superb Olds has you hooked. So don't let it slip away, call today!
