1956 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight

1956 Olds 98 4 door with the original Rocket V8.
I brought this home with the intentions of building a nice cruiser for the family. It would still make an excellent project but medical bills have left me no choice but to sell it.
When I bought the car it was a non running car that had been sitting in a barn for over 14 years. It did come with a lot of paper work from the prior now deceased owner.
The first thing I did was work on getting it to start. I flushed the fuel tank, rewired the distributor and placed a newly rebuilt carb on it and it fired off. I then went after brakes and wheel bearings. I had all the original drums turned to a beautiful surface and placed brand new brakes on it. I replaced and packed the wheel bearings. I pull ed some carpet out to check for rust and the car is really solid very little rust. Only spots are the usual ones behind the wheel wells. The trunk pan and floor pans are perfect.
This is the status of the car as of today.
The car runs and drives but the transmission is going to need to be gone through. Engine runs great probably could be timed I set it by ear.
It seems to be great when the car is cold, it shifts excellent and drives very well and comfortably. Once you put a few miles on it the transmission struggles to shift itself into 2nd. This is the original transmission and I have done nothing to it other than add fluid.
I placed a good set of tires on it, put new points, plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor. It has a professionally rebuilt original 56 4 barrel Quadrajet carb. The glass is all good and in amazing condition, all windows roll up and down with ease, wing windows work perfect even.
This has a power seat, original equipment and it actually works. The interior will need to be done although it is not terrible. Dash is perfect no cracks its pretty unreal have not seen that before in a car of this vintage. The car will come with an extra carb the one it came with that needs a full rebuild. There are some additional chrome trim pieces that will go with the car, duplicate pieces and some lettering. It came with the big shop manual and owners manual so I will include that.
The power steering works, all the running lights work as well as the signals, brakes and headlights.
This car will be at the annual Firebird Swap Meet on April 14th for sale unless it sells beforehand.
