1968 Olds 442 convertible. This is an original 442 convertible, not a clone, that wasoriginally a4 speed car that at some point in it's life was converted to a TH350 automatic transmission and an automatic console from an earlier 442. It is a fantastic running and driving car and 1 of only about 1500 built that year. The 400 ci engine is 442 specific and had been rebuilt and a rebuilt original numbers correct carburetor was installed late last year. A new and pricey OEM style aluminum radiator was installed last August. The front suspension was rebuilt and aligned and power disc brakes were also added around that time as well. New Goodrich tires and Hurst aluminum wheels were installed approximately June 2017. I still have the original wheels as well if you want them. The drivers floor board has been patched and small area of rust is starting to show under the paint on lower fender, otherwise it appears to be a very solid and rust free. Pics of the floor boards from when I replaced the carpet are included in the ad as well as pics from under the car. The power convertible top works well but thetop does have a rip in it.I hardly ever drive the car with the topup so I never took time to address it. The car is very dusty in the pictures from sitting in my shop and I apologize for not washing it before taking pictures. I boughtthe 442from a guy that owned it for 40 years before me and it mostly sat in his garagewhere it gotthe paint chips, scratches, etc while being stored.I guess you could call it a garage find but he did occasionally, but rarely, drive it. The car is not perfect but with paint and a top would be a VERY nice car. I checked the body with apaint meterwhen I purchased itandthere appears to be little or no body work that has been done to it. The left tail light lens is broken and embarrassed to say I haven't fixed it yetbut the lensesare available new. I've tried to describe the car as accurately as possible andhope I didn'tmiss anything but again Iencourage inspecting the vehicle yourself. I didn't intend to sell herbut another vehicle has caught my eye (and yes 'squirrel' very much applies when it comes to me and cars) so it must go. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and I encourage anyone to come have a look and go for a drive if interested in buying it. I will gladly assist by driving the car locally to a shipper arranged by you but highly encourage local pickup.
