1948 Oldsmobile Dynamic Series 66 Convertible | Restorable Condition Super Rare 1801 Made Said to be once owned by the Femme Fetale Actress of the 40-50s Lana Turner* *We have NO PROOF or real verifiable documents to back it up and the trunk signature and plaque are not enough to convince us! The only reason I even post this aspect concerning this car is because of the claim from the original Arizona seller. If you have information about Lana Turner that can help verify this claim, we would be open to listening. 1948 Oldsmobile Dynamic Series 66 Convertible Very Restorable Will start and can drive with caution Minimal Rust !! Extremely Hard to Find !! New Convertible Top • Solid but NOT Rust free • Incredibly Rare | We Want Your Business Please calland we can discuss your serious and intelligent offer. Be confident your intent to buy will be met by me, the owner, courteously. Thanks, Doug Williams 702-353-7500 Before you send me that awful question, "what's your reserve or bottom line", let's take a moment to explain market values and how to get a deal on eBay. There isn't any valid "Book Values" from the Kelly Blue Book or NADA Guide on this 1948 Oldsmobile Dynamic 66 Convertible, just try to find one that has sold or is available for sale anywhere in the world. We have been hoping to find one for nearly a year and never even seen one for sale or Googled one that sold in recent times. Finding one in this condition is near impossible as well, so your ability to assess the value you are willing to offer will be completely up to you...not based on what I think or may want, you will need to come up with a sensible figure that works for you and make you bid or offer.Haggerty's Valuation Tools and NADA are the only places even willing to make stabs at the possible values. We just know that Late 40s post War II cars that are convertibles are the most valuable antique cars on the planet. Just bid and please don't bother me with what I might want or think about pricing...I DON'T KNOW! Real buyers with serious offers in mind, either bid and they almost always call us. They almost always want to talk to the person in charge; that's me. I want to talk to you too and help you own this awesome vehicle. It keeps me in business. So, if you want a fantastic vehicle like you see here, one that is far above the average in condition, serviced and documented like this, simply call. Asking through email for my bottom line? Well, I just think you're not too serious or willing to make an offer; makes it a waste of my time and yours. If you just want to know what the market value is, do what we do, look atthe vehicle closely and try to find another just like it with similar rarity and documentation. If you can't find one, just decide what it is worth to you to own it. That is what I did and all we can hope for is that you offer a bit more than I did so I can stay in business. Most important though, since you "are" a serious and capable buyer, call me and let's talk. I don't wear a Plaid Coat, I don't talk really fast and I am the guy in charge, the owner, enthusiast and purveyor of some of the finest cars on the internet...not to mention the best thorough presentations. Let's talk...Call me Doug 702-353-7500 Back-story from the owner... We have clients that from time to time buy cool cars and either start restorations or need a bit of completion on them to make them drivable or sellable. This car came from one of our clients that we've sold several cars for him. His cars have always been unique and very hard to find rides. This one he bought sight unseen from a seller in Arizona that claimed he was willing to partially restore the car for my client. He would claim that he put new floors in the car, put a new small window convertible top on the car and do body repairs, repaint and make it a very nice ride. The roof got put on and according to our client, a few other things got completed like the floors and so on. Then the seller/restorer died and my client got the car out of his shop and had it delivered to us. It was a non-runner and we could see that things that were claimed to have been done were not and not to the standards that had been claimed by the seller. So here it is and our honest presentation will show the car and everything we know about the car in the best clarity that we can. Doug - Viva Las Vegas Autos, Inc. | VIN: 66K9248 Odometer: 95,270 Engine: 238.1ci L6 Transmission: Hydra-Matic Automatic Exterior: Chariot Red Interior: Gray Cloth Over 164 high resolution pictures below. Where do you find such incredible rare Convertibles? Viva Las Vegas Autos! This restorable 1948 Oldsmobile Dynamic 66 Convertibles is one of the most rare cars we have ever had. Not so much because of it's production quantity, even though 1801 units built is pretty darn rare, it's extremely rare because you just can't find one anywhere on planet earth...in any condition. Just Google it for yourself and you will see what we mean. So, before I spend another minute on talking about it's extreme rarity, suffice it to say, it's nearly impossible to place a value on this car. Nothing in years has sold, no bench mark has been set, just personal assessments of the potential value and we hope like heck, that someone will see the importance of this great car. We have put all the specs into the pictures below so I don't think I need to waste anyone's time on the specifications of this car. So let's get into the story. Our seller (we are consigning this car) bought this car sight unseen from a seller in Arizona. Claims were made that the car was once owned by the Femme Fetale bombshell from the late forties and early fifties, Lana Turner. It was claimed that she received it from the Department of Defense as a gift for her service with the USO and there was a plaque in the trunk and her "signature" to boot. Because I like full disclosure, I am not going to stand behind that claim AT ALL unless someone can provide information backing it up more than what we can see. The plaque spells her name wrong...as Launa and not Lana...I have a hard time thinking that the USO would have got that wrong with the world's most popular actress of the time. Also, the car is a 1948 and the plaque was dated Dec 20, 1947...the signature also is done over top of a recent paint job that was supposedly just done on the car and dated '57...over top of bondo spread. So, in my professional opinion, the "Lana Turner" ownership places NO VALUE on this car unless it is verified with certainty. Where I do see the extreme value in this car is it's rarity and that fact that another unit like this...for sale...is not available or even out there to find. I really can't even find one that has been on the market at anytime...at least at any auction houses that post results online. There are plenty of Oldsmobile 98 convertibles but ZERO Oldsmobile Dynamic 66 or 68 Convertibles. So, my hope is that we find a museum or a very serious minded collector that has come across the same results we have and wants to bring this car back to it's original glory and show it off. If you can find any real connection to the Lana Turner myth, then great...bonus. More about the condition? She's mostly all there, a few trim pieces are missing but as you will see, we have taken many pictures from top to bottom to make sure you know what you are getting and the condition the car is in. Starting at the top, the convertible is newer, according to our consignee, it was installed last year. It was also done with the small window. The windows all roll down and up. The can start, run and drive for a short time. The head gasket is leaking so running it or driving it for any lengthily time is obviously no advisable. The tires are old, the car does go into drive and reverse and moves in those desired directions but again, this in NOT a car to be driven any long distance or even around town. She could be driven out to a loading truck for transport and that's about all we would suggest. The body of the car seems to be quite solid, major repairs on the body do not seem to be evident. The paint is what you see but not a high quality job at all. Yes, it shines, but the workmanship of the body and prep work under the paint is not great. They claimed that had replaced the floors to our consignee...I would say it was more like they patched up a few big holes from the top of the floors, lathered some silicone in some areas underneath the car and called it a day. Proper floor work will need to be addressed in a proper restoration. The frame of the car looks to be in excellent condition without any damage or rust. The brakes stop the car...but it is not like we have gone out into traffic with this car either. I hope that give a good written overview of this great car but please view every picture before you call with questions. I think you will be able to see everything you need to know about this car through our presentation. The undercarriage is absolutely RUST FREE too The brakes are at least 90% there as well. Books & Records are here too. A note from the owner. I am a "used car dealer" but before that, I'm an automobile enthusiast. I love original rare and high quality modified vintage cars and over the past decade I've been in business, have come to appreciate an expanding selection of high-demand, high value vehicles. I specialize in and am always on the lookout for cars and trucks that were cherished by their previous owners. I have an experienced eye for quality but I've discovered that my preferred buyer can instantly discern such a vehicle and I have therefore, built my business and reputation around finding these kinds of cars for this type of customer. Super low miles and/or gentle ownership are strict requirements but a car must do something for me on a personal level if there is any hope of convincing you, the bidder, that this is an above average, exceptional vehicle. If nothing about the car excites me, it probably won't do much for you either and I would soon be out of business. With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a "dealership" like mine may at first glance appear. It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list. To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner and Chris, owner of A-Best Auto Repair in Henderson, Nevada has my back. He and his crew can fix anything; from a low budget beater to the absolute most expensive exotic you can name, no job is too big and no small detail unimportant. They do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and nothing escapes their methodical investigation. Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly "right" will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about me. Moreover; it allows my writer to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless he thinks it is true. If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one. I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction. After the vehicle is fully sorted it arrives at our facility where it encounters the suspicious eye of Tom, my writer that creates the presentations you see on eBay. He believes absolutely nothing I or anyone else tells him about the car as he combs over every inch, researches its history and documents originality and authenticity. Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty. Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 150 high resolution pictures that I take myself. The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I've developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they so meticulously clean. This reconditioning can sometimes take several days and I've converted a paint booth, especially prepared for the professional clay bar and polishing each car lovingly receives. Usually, I'll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it's a fast car, we film it going fast. If it's a 4x4 you'll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch the temperature fall on a digital, laser thermometer pointed at an air conditioning vent. How many "dealers" will video a Lotus Esprit doing a buck-eighty? We do. No "dealer, "? on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information. I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase, that my vehicle is for real and what I say is the truth. All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact. I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay. To accomplish that I need satisfied customers that are as thrilled with their purchase as I was when I bought it. If you have any questions at all, please call me on my cell at: 702-353-7500. If your inquiry is sincere and your offer serious, you'll find me the most accommodating business partner you've ever dealt with. If you call or e-mail asking for my reserve or "what is my bottom line" I will be looking for ways to politely end the conversation. Until you are ready to actually pull the trigger, I will happily quote you the absolute highest nationally advertised suggested retail price I can find - a number we both know will not buy the car so, don't waste your time, or mine. I am after all, a "used car dealer.†Serious buyers know the maximum they can offer. I then must simply decide if I can sell for that number. If you hit the reserve, the decision is no longer mine. I must sell at that number.
