1959 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight Dynamic

Up for auction is our fully restored 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 sedan. It’s a rare car to begin with, but to have one restored to this level, is almost un-heard of. The comprehensive restoration took many years to complete.

To start out, the original 371 High Compression Olds Rocket engine was removed and fully rebuilt to factory specifications, then detailed to a high standard. The transmission was gone through and was reinstalled with the engine. New dual exhaust was then installed with mild turbo mufflers giving the car a great low rumble. Many new parts were used including; all mounts, power steering pump, hoses, water pump, carburetor rebuilt, ignition updated, radiator was boiled and re-cored, u-joints, shocks, brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, fuel tank, fuel lines, speedo cable etc. etc. etc…….. and the list goes on and on.

Then the body and interior was fully stripped. All of the body work was completed with any rust being cut out and new panels welded in. It was block sanded and primed, then painted its original color of Russett Metallic (MMM). Later fully color sanded and polished to a mirror finish. The paint and body of this car is truly beautiful. All of the stainless trim was sanded and re-polished to a chrome-like finish with any dents or imperfections fixed. The bumpers were totally disassembled and re-chrome plated to show quality. During reassembly all new hardware was used when possible along with all new rubber weather-strip in the door jambs and trunk. The trunk was refinished with a similar to stock splatter paint. The original spare is unused and looks great. Also in the trunk is a box of spare parts, original Oldsmobile manuals and a pair of stainless Fender Skirts. All of the glass is very nice in this car except the right rear door window has a crack (easy fix). Chrome mag wheels with “Oldsmobile” center caps and new radial tires put the finishing touch to the exterior of this Olds.

The interior is simply OVER THE TOP! It was the last part of the restoration that was completed. The carpet is correct multi color loop custom fit to this car. The headliner is tan cloth and fits to perfection. The dash is refinished and highly detailed with crisp gauges. The fuel gauge is inaccurate. Otherwise everything works as expected; including wipers, lights, turn signals, horn, speedo and high/low beams. The radio is a modern digital AM/FM CD Player that sounds great and is professionally mounted in the dash without modifying the dash or the chrome trim. An original radio could easy be reinstalled without trouble. The seats and door panels are REAL LEATHER and beautiful! The stitching is straight and precise, the leather is soft like what you would find in a modern luxury car and feels great to sit in. All of the seat foam has been replaced giving the seats that great feel.

I don’t feel any corners were cut when restoring this very unique Oldsmobile. The restoration of this beautiful Olds cost far more than the reserve price and is a bargain as far as today's prices go. It’s very reliable and fun to drive, its ready to take you, your family and friends to the local cruise night in style. Ive noticed at many shows you will see lots of mid 50’s chevys and fords, but it’s very rare to see a professionally finished late 50’s Olds! Cruising it around I get lots of “thumbs up” because it’s so unique and different.
