Item location: Redmond, Oregon, United States
Description:
1970 Oldsmobile 442
1970 Olds 442 yes the real deal VIN 344 1970 Olds 442. this has the original 455 with the matching vin on the block. it has correct E heads and the correct intake as well. The Th400 trans also has the correct code on it to be the original transmission this car was built with. It also has a Type O 12 bolt Olds rearend. However, by the build sheet "YES IT HAS A BUILD SHEET" this car came with a 3:23 rearend and this car now has a 3:08 rearend. So that is not matching but is correct type of rearend. This car is from California and is no longer in the DMV system. Therefore it is being sold with a notorized bill of sale.Options on this car when new included: Power steering, Power disc brakes, Th400 transmission, Rear window defogger, bucket seats, console, tile wheel, and more. when I found the car the steering column and console were missing. it has the correct boxed rear lower control arms but no sway bar, it has the frame connectors and the fender brace is on one fender. the other seems to have been replaced as well as the door. The hood is the correct 70 only 442 hood. Not ram air. or Out side air induction as some call it. The buckets seats and the rest of the interior all needs redone. the console is missing but the shifter is there. The tinted glass is all good except the windshield. The lower rear quarter sections need a patch and the trunk floor could either use a couple of patches or a new floor section. there is a few spots in the interior floors that need replaced but it does not need new complete floors. the window frames seem ok but I have not pulled the glass and inspected so can't tell for sure. This car once had a vinyl top but that has long been baked off from sun damage. This car was built at the Fremont plant and sold new at Andy Buttis Motors in Carson City, Nevada.
It came new Gold with a black top, black stripes, and gold interior. I found a picture of a car that is a good example of what it would have looked like new. It is not this car. I will post many pictures. This car is being sold as is and needs to be totally restored. It does not run and has not run in years. I have not had it turn over either. So, a full overhaul is needed at the least. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I have sold cars in the past and many customers have used Monarchcarshipping.com with good success, I have no affiliation with them. They just have treated my customers well. So, I am passing that on.
