1987 Nissan Stanza XE 4x4 Wagon

I've been driving this car since I bought it new in 1987. I planned to keep driving it until we figure out what comes after gasoline, but the frame is rusting through where the front wheels attach, so eventually it will be unsafe to drive.

I hope someone who knows how to weld will cherish and restore this vehicle. It has been a really great car.

There aren't many of these left in running condition:

• They only made them for three years (1986-1988)
• The 4x4 version is rarer.
• The manual transmission version is rarer.

The bad news:

• Frame is rusting through
• Rust spots on the body as well
• Had a literal fender-bender on the driver's side years ago, so the front end is a bit askew
• Didn't quite pass Colorado emissions on first try
• Windshield is cracked, others are fine
• Passenger side rear quarter window tint film is bubbling
• Rear cargo floor board is cracked
• FM radio doesn't seem to work
• One wheel cover missing
• Driver's seat upholstery discolored from decades of perspiration (sorry)
• Minor hail damage
• Engine leaks a little
• Driver side plastic rear light cover cracked; bottom bulb socket rusted
• Left side license plate light bulb doesn't come on (right side has loose connection)
• Remote fuel door release doesn't seem to work

The good news:

• Starts right up and runs well (though don't ask too much from the engine below 2,200 RPM)
• One-owner
• Non-smoker
• Great in snow and don't have to pay for 4WD when not needed
• Regular maintenance:
  • every 3,333 miles: oil & filter change, wheel rotation & spin-balance
  • every 10,000 miles: four-wheel alignment
  • every 30,000 miles: scheduled maintenance
• On-demand Four-Wheel-Drive works
• Heater works
• Air conditioner works (though belt squeals when first turned on if high RPM)
• Cassette tape works
• AM radio works (occasionally gets quiet, power-cycle to restore)
• Crank windows work
• Tires in fine shape
• Interior in excellent shape
• Great visibility through large windows

Matching numbers except:

• Passenger-side headlamp unit is from 1988
• Exhaust manifold (cracked) is from Stanza sedan (original included for reference)
