Description:
1991 Nissan Other Grand Saloon
1991 Nissan Laurel 'Grand Saloon'I am selling my Laurel. It's been an outstanding car but I need the money for university tuition. Taking a break from cars altogether for a while. I had my fun with this car; I think I'm finally satisfied with it.
December of 1991 build date. Purchased it back in August and waited until it was eligible to ship over. I am the first U.S. owner. Clean Washington title in hand. Car has no accident history and is in great shape.
Car has 145,xxx kilometers - ~90,000 miles on it.
This isn't like many other imported vehicles on the market in the fact that I've thoroughly gone over it, replacing things that needed attention, and other things that did not, but I did anyway.
The car is a very rare factory manual. At some point in its history, a healthy blacktop SR20DET was swapped in. Engine is from a 1994 180sx according to the VIN number on the original ECU that came with the car (car is running an Enthalpy ROM tune ECU now). There are a lot of quality parts on this car. Some it came with, others I've installed. I parted out my S14 last year and a few of the parts that didn't sell or I was getting lowballed on made their way onto this car. Most, if not all the parts I've thrown on (PBM stuff, Stance coils, etc.) are low mileage and bought brand new.
Cars feels great, motor is solid, no leaks, ticks, or other weird noises. A/C blows cold.

215/40/17 Federal SS-595 EVO
(This sizing is original and stupid rare. I've never seen any other 03's in this sizing. But they are stamped 10j +15 on the back, and if you look at old Blitz wheel ads, they do list this sizing).
Also, they have new lips (same size as originals) and faces were chromed by VR Wheels. Chrome is still perfect. These are 9.99/10.
Recent work:
• Replaced inner and outer tie rods with Moog S14 units
• New OEM S13 SR20DET valve cover gasket and S14 SR20DET PCV valve and grommet
• Oil change with Rotella T6 5w40 and K&N filter.
• Coolant flushed and replaced + redline water wetter
• Transmission flushed and filled with Redline Lightweight Shockproof
• New O2 Sensor
• Cleaned MAF
• Clutch damper delete and bled the clutch
• Changed the rear pads, replaced one of the calipers, brake fluid flush
• Dropped the rear subframe, installed a new one painted copper with sparkles. New one has solid bushings.
• Replaced every link on the rear subframe while I was at it. All parts were purchased new. Also did SPL eccentric lockout kit
• Replaced front suspension with PBM stuff (Knuckles, FLCA)
• Energy suspension front and rear sway bar bushings
• Energy suspension steering rack bushings
• Car didn't have a head unit when I got it, and the GReddy gauges weren't working. One was pegged. HKS boost controller wasn't working. Fixed all that, cleaned up the JDM-spec wiring behind the dash.
• New coil packs (Phase2Motortrend, supposed to be better than OEM)
• Intake piping was replaced to accommodate the Z32 MAF. 2.5 inch > to all 3 inch now.
• OEM injectors were replacing with ultrasonic cleaned STI injectors.
• New spark plugs (NGK BKR7E gapped to .30)
• Got rid of the mismatched set of coil overs it came with and put the Stance setup from my S14 on. (S14 coil overs don't just right on, it's a bit of a hybrid setup meant to go low low, S13 rear dampers and top hats, etc).
• Car was missing a lot of interior stuff (rear seats, rear speaker deck lid, c-pillar fabrics, front lower plastic panels) I slowly sourced everything on Yahoo Auctions. For rear seats I just threw some S13 seats back there. They fit ok. Wouldn't have anyone sit back there with the cage anyway.
• Did water pump, thermostat, and PBM swirl pot while changing the coolant. Come to find out the water pump had already been replaced, so the motor shows signs it was taken care of in Japan.
• While the sub frame was out, I dropped the differential and cracked it open to see what it had. Auction sheet specified 'LSD' but not much more. Turns out it has a Nismo 2-way. Resealed the diff, and filled it up with Lucas gear oil and Motorcraft friction modifier. It's a very subtle diff. But I hear they lock great when you need to.
• New battery, new terminals to accept USDM battery (JDM batteries have smaller posts), also did a battery cut-off switch.
• Fresh paint on front and rear bumpers and front lip.
• Recent alignment by a good friend and the only one I trust for alignments.
I'm sure there's some stuff I'm forgetting. Recently cut/buffed/waxed the whole car prior to sale and it will be stored in a garage until then.
Car was my daily for a bit. I'd honestly raise it a little if you plan on drifting it (which you should). I never drifted it. I know it's totally built for it, but I just like having proper suspension and being low.
Cons:
• Front fender buckled. While the bumpers were getting painted I had it fixed. It still needs filler and a repaint to be perfect, but it's not bad. I have brand new D-MAX rep +30mm fenders I will throw in. Photos of the car are very recent, it's not crazy noticeable.
• Some scratching on the passenger side rear door from going off track in Japan or something. It doesn't really show up in pictures, but I can try and capture it for serious buyers. None of my friends noticed it until their 3rd, 4th, 5th time seeing the car, kind of one of those "was that always there?" things.
• Axle boots are torn from being low. Axles themselves are fine. Would only replace when they start making noise.
• Rear defroster doesn't work. Though the front does, heat blows hot, A/C blows cold!
• Roll cage isn't bolted in. Holes have not yet been drilled for it either. Sell it, keep it, your call.
• There is a slight water leak by the passenger footwell. Hasn't rained in awhile so I haven't been able to locate it. A friend's Laurel also has the same issue. A highly-regarded Nissan mechanic that looked at his car suggested it had something to do with an A/C inlet IIRC.
• (1/24/18) - One of the 03's is leaking.
I have a few spare parts that aren't installed I will throw in (all parts are brand new):
• GT-1 Motorsports Solid Steering Shaft Bushing
• Endless Brake Fluid
• Project Mu Brake Pads (current pads have decent life left, I've always loved Project Mu pads, just never got around to installing them)
• Brand new in box +30mm D-MAX rep front fenders (keep them, sell them, your call)
• Lightly used, authentic Bride FG rails. Will allow you to put in a bucket seat for the driver seat. Best rails on the market hands down.
• Catco 3" High Flow Cat if you need to pass emissions or what not.
• Probably some other random crap I have in my garage (red LED light strip I was going to make into a 3rd brake light, etc, etc).
Price drop to $12,500. Firm. NO TRADES. Please refrain from asking. Cash is king.
Red Bride seat not included. It will come with a Bride recliner rep as seen in interior photos. I will throw in the Bride FG bucket seat rails I was using for the driver side.
