1986 Mitsubishi Other

You are looking a 1986 Mitsubishi Starion aka Chrysler Conquest. It left Japan as a 2.6 liter four cylinder Turbo Charged automatic rear wheel drive car with independent rear suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes. It was converter to a 5 lug factory intercooled car with larger brakes and beefier suspension.

The new power plant is a 1969 Mopar 318 that was rebuilt using a pair of Indy cylinder heads Cast # 302, Competition Cam kit XE262H, Edelbrock intake, Holley carburetor, Mr. Gasket fuel pump, Summit headers and a HEI ignition. Exhaust is 2 1/4" true duals using a Dynomax two in/two out with a built-in X-Pipe. Transmission is a 1970 904 rebuilt with a Trans-Go tf2 kit controlled by a B&M Hammer shifter. New KYB struts and mounts, Eibach Pro springs and MK 101 Propose anti sway bars with poly bushings. Brakes are from the factory intercooled cars adding cross drilled rotors, metallic pads and steel braided lines. The rear end is stock using a Mitsubishi Mighty Max Ring and Pinion 3.90 ratio. I've never brought it to the track but I would expect this car to make high 12 passes on a perfect run.

Custom dash has Autometer gauges with a switch panel for push button start, ignition control, and a cooling fan over ride. Emergency brake handle is out of a European Starion. Steering wheel is a factory Turbo Eclipse leather wrapped. The fabrication work, paint and exhaust was done by Ronald Boudreaux at Boudreaux's CARS in New Orleans. Motor mounts were fabricated and the factory crossover was modified, as well as the oil pan, headers and transmission mount. Front bumper/air dam is a wide body car piece modified to the wide mouth design by Mark Wade of Burton's Customs then custom fitted by Boudreaux's. The hood is from a group purchase many years ago where less than 300 were made. Burton's Custom's also tinted the Starion tail lights.

An Optima Red Top battery was relocated to the rear with power running through a breaker to a starter relay running to a Mopar mini starter. Entertainment is controlled by a Clarion head unit to Infinity Speakers.

It has a custom 4 point roll bar to tie in the rear section for strength. The wheels are custom color matched, polished lip ARE 16x7's with 255/50 Nitto Drag radials and Nitto fronts. The rear seat was deleted and a fabricated shelf is in place with a storage compartment. The car wascompletely taken apart after fabrication to be painted factory color L05 Olive Grey, thenreassembled.

This is a project car so please don't expect to drive it home.

The car needs the power steering return hose installed and the system bled. It has an oil leak on the passenger side that sometimes hits the exhaust. It needs a steering coupler bushing and a front end alignment, it has a slight wobble at 40 mph. All of theelectronicswork like power windows, lights, blower motor, etc. It has no a/c, and if you want a heater just hook the hoses to the core. The Transmission valve body was built incorrectly, the car does not shift correctly from second to third gear. Adjusting the cable has little affect and when I can get it close to the proper adjustment it will not downshift once into third gear, so, I have purchased a Manual Forward pattern valve body from Mancini to fix this problem but have not installed it. It comes with the car new in box.

My plan for this car was to have a nice cruise night car that I could drive anywhere and take to the track for some quarter mile fun. After I got the car back from the paint shop I put it together just before Crusin the Coast and Mopars at the Marina. Since then I've shown it at the Starquest Nationals with Best of Show runner up, Best Paint, Best Engine Bay, Best Swap and Best Flat Body. Next show was Past meets Present in Pensacola with a Best in Class. The 2015 World of Wheels in the Superdome she won First Place inConservativeSports. Music City Mopar show she took a First Place in class. Big Easy Mopar Show award and an award at the Pentastars South Mopars on the Street in Culmann,AL. While it was not built for just showing, that's all I have done with this beauty, she has become a trailer queen as it just sits in the garage under cover.

Why am I selling it you ask ? A longanticipatedE Body opportunity has come up and selling is my only option to obtain it. This car is offered in " as in " condition. No warranty is expressed or implied. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time as the car is listed locally as well. I will help in any way I can if you care to have it shipped, but any cost involved isto be paid for by the buyer. Trophiescome with the car if you want them. Check my feedback and Thanx for looking.
