1967 Riley Elf:
This very special Riley Elf is a rand-hand drive example that was registered in January1967 to its first owner in Devon England. It was imported to Canada in Halifax N.S. through Atlantic custom Brokers on November 18, 2008. It comes with a well documented history of ownership including British MOT inspection certificates up to the early 2000’s and invoices for the mechanical upgrades.
In 1997, the owner at the time M. J. Shaw treated the Riley to full blown, period correct mechanical upgrades to improve the performance and handling of this Elf transforming it into a real sleeper!
MED Engineering Services in Leicester England installed a 1380 CC overbore rally spec A-series engine, with mild racing cam, cylinder head and twin HS4 1.5-inchcarbs. This was mated to a Jack Knight, 5 speed full synchro straight cut transmission with 0.877 overdrive. The odometer read 36,957 miles at the time, and the Elf now shows 50,234 miles.
The Riley was dyno-ed on June 1998 showing 99 net HP at the wheels on a rolling road test at 5680 rpm. This is a deceptively quick Mini with a thrilling soundtrack coming from its Jack Knife transmission and performance bore stainless steel exhaust system. Engine currently has perfect oil pressure, no oil leaks and starts on the button!
Suspension was upgraded to adjustable chock absorbers and currently sitting at regular Mini ride height. The brakes were upgraded to disks up front. Dunlop 10-inch wheels were installed. It currently wears Yokohama Advan 165r10 performance tires with good tread. It stops and goes!
Recent improvements include a sprucing up in 2021 with a new coat of Birch Grey paint along with new custom interior carpets complementing the original Cardinal red interior. Both driver and passenger footwells were replaced with British Motor Heritage panels and a new red carpet was installed.
The paint finish on the Riley is of a high standard driver quality and shows extremely well.
The interior is unmodified and finished in its original cardinal red leather and vinyl factory materials. Current owner will supply a new, hand sewn English custom Riley Elf original spec leather interior and brand-new OEM roof headliner for those who seek perfection and do not appreciate an original weathered look. A brand new OEM rear shelf in red vinyl has been installed.
Original wood dash shows well and integrates custom dials including voltage, water temperature and tachometer on top of oil pressure, fuel level and speedometer to keep an eye on everything mechanical. This is cleverly hidden in the driver side glove compartment and can be closed off to the discerning onlooker. A custom wood rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheels adds an upscale feel to the already well-appointed interior. The Riley is also equipped with an electrical outlet for your USB port.

Everything is in perfect running order and looks fantastic.
N A folder of invoices and ownership records will be included in the sale along with a factory workshop manual. The Riley also comes with 1 set of keys, a few hard-to-find spare light lenses, an extra front grille, and a custom “Bad Elf” Quebec license plate. Offered by the current owner with a valid registration certificate.
