ORIGINAL UK 1966 MGB ROADST4R w/OVERDRIVE 1.8L 4 CYL
1966 MG MGB
ORIGINAL UK 1966 MGB w/OVERDRIVE
This 1966 MGB is probably the most sought after original car of its era with chrome bumpers, pull handle, 5 main bearing engine, overdrive transmission and a fascinating history. This car is a truly English car, originally purchased in the UK by a US service man, and shipped to the USA. The history of this car is supported by original documents, some of which are displayed in the listing, including original bill of sale, shipping documents from the UK to US, Statement of Origin and many more.
He and I maintained and kept the car in pristine and original condition as best as possible. The car is a California car and has been converted to 12V, negative ground polarity, has never been driven in the winter, is well taken care of with only 2 owners. NO accidents, NO rust, NO body fillers or plastic what so ever. Under carriage is in great shape, still displaying the original factory applied rust proofing from 57years ago. Most of the car is 90+% original except for the exterior paint, carpets and recent engine rebuild. It has the original painted wire wheels which are in excellent condition, not after market spoke chrome wheels. The engine is strong, one of the best engines MGB ever made, 5 main bearings, and was rebuilt in 2015 by the renowned MGB guru John Twist from University Motors. The car originally did not have an overdrive transmission, so an original (hard to find) 1966 overdrive transmission was added when the engine was rebuilt. A new clutch was installed when the overdrive transmission was replaced. We still have the original 4 speed transmission available. If buyer would like it we can ship it with the car.The car was originally black and repainted with same MGB stock black color, with the original black with white stripe leather seats. Driver seat is a little worn but still in great condition with a back bench cushion in the rear. Mechanics are in very good working condition, engine has no more than the 3k miles after rebuild, carburetorswere rebuilt shortly after, engine runs smooth with great oil pressure 45-50 at idle, 60-80PSI at highway speed. Transmission and overdrive shifts easily. Odometer currently reads 12308 miles, but we cannot attest to its accuracy. Speedometer needs to be calibrated to accommodate the Overdrive gear. At present the speedometer shows that the car is running about 10-14 MPH slower than it actually is. The car also has the original 1966 Blauplunkt AM radio, it’s currently not connected and I cannot attest to its status. Brakes were recently done. Convertible top is NEW, has a rear zipper window and because we live in Nevada it has never been used. Car comes with a spare spoke wheel, original jack and original Thor Hammer Company brass hammer, original documents including the original service manual and some spare parts.
