Description:

1964 MG MGB

This car is a head-turner! Always gets compliments. MGB built in 1963 and sold originally in 1964I have owned it approximately 10 years and need the room for downsizing. It is the coveted early model chrome bumper "pull handle" . These are getting more rare and more collectible, especially with original intact drivetrain.
-It has the original 3-Main engine, head, and gearbox. All rebuilt about 5 years ago. The car starts right up, runs great with oil pressure at 65-70PSI at speed and 50 at idle. See compression above. Water temp around 180.
-suspension is tight with bushings in good shape and lubrication grease flows into swivels. New bearings and seals all around about 4 years ago.
-The paint color was restored to original factory Iris Blue, one of the prettiest MGB stock colors. The pictures don't do the rich color justice. The body is tight, no rust, and prior to me someone applied rustproofing to the underside which is solid. I have kept up WaxOil to the internal spaces. . The paint is beautiful but to make it concours you would want to upgrade some of the dents/ blemishes/nicks seen on close inspection. . Chrome wheels really set off well against the glossy blue-The interior is VERY clean with leather seats, blue piping on the seats and door panels. I removed the British Leyland AM positive ground radio it had (it lights up but station volume low) but will include that (see picture) to reinstall if you like. Amazing hidden sound system with a separate pre-amp in floor board (can be removed in 5 minutes with a couple of screws) and stereo tucked under dash with a remote control. Speakers high power in doors,
-All locks work and have keys (glovebox, trunk, doors) except passenger side does not lock from outside (does lock from inside). Mounted fire extinguisher behind driver's seat. Battery cut-out switch mounted inside rear cabin to avoid having to remove terminals to disconnect. Heater fan and control valves and wipers all working. Windscreen washer is motorized.
-Also will include the original starter (1963) which I had rebuilt and kept as spare. In addition car comes with a brand new SU fuel pump as a spare. Original jack included.
- Lots of upgrades to electrical system including rear LED's and forward relays for safety (see above). Converted to alternator / negative ground for amperage and safety; however will include generator to convert back if desired.
-Carburetors are original SU HS4's and rebuilt about 5 years ago.New replacements include drive shaft, gas tank, brake rebuild, water pump, redone dash, carpeting, rubber pieces throughout.
-Spare parts (if you want them) include at no extra cost:
  • Brand new SU fuel Pump,
  • Rebuilt original starter,
  • Rebuilt Original Generator
  • Factory option British Leyland AM radio (positive ground)
****Please do comparison shopping of the 63/64 MGB's in similar condition with original equipment,I think you will find this is a very fair starting price for this early "pull handle" MGB and its features and condition. I hope the next owner will continue to invest in it, drive it on back roads and highways, and feel the enjoyment of these classic sports cars as these early ones should appreciate in value. The car is 60 years old so they need TLC and upkeep. Please message me for additional questions, pictures, videos. I am very happy to speak to all aspects of car and any purchase / shipping procedures.
