1979 MG MGB

This MGB was restored in 2022. Converting the engine to Holley's Sniper 2GC Electronic Fuel Injection was first on the list. This Sniper system is self-tuning using a wide band O2 sensor. The EFI along with the in-tank fuel pump is a $2k upgrade (not including labor). The EFI turned out great, the engine runs smoothly and strongly, cold start is flawless and you don't get that gasoline exhaust smell like with a carburetor. So the car deserved a little body work and a repaint. The outside turned out awesome and therefore the car was ready for a new Moss Motors interior. Not the skimpy version, the $2,349 version with seat foam, seat upholstery, full carpet, door cards, kick panels, consul... the whole deal. Now this was a very nice ride but what if it rains? I hate those plastic tops so I got the cloth version from Robbins Auto Tops for $741 plus an even $1k for professional installation. At this point the car is almost perfect but lacking music. Didn't need music because the engine sounds great, and I sure didn't want to cut any holes in the new door cards for speakers. But, I had a hunch that a Yamaha TV sound bar could work as a self-powered speaker. So, I tested out the theory. The Yamaha SR-C20A runs on 20v DC which is more voltage than the car. E-Bay provided a voltage step-up converter and Crutchfield provided the Retrosound Hermosa M2A head unit. The system sounds great and was declared a full success despite the cost of $518. By-the-way, somewhere between the EFI upgrade and the upholstery, the car got new wiring head to toe which is much more reliable than the Lucas version. It also has LED headlights, new marker lights, new weatherstripping, new exhaust, new shocks, new poly bushings throughout the front end and a set of new tires.

I restored and upgraded this car to keep busy during my first years of retirement. I wouldn't be selling if I had unlimited parking. But, the car deserves a good home and I need to free up some space for the next project. So, this is your chance to pick up a very nicely sorted MGB for a fraction of what it would cost to do yourself.
