1979 MG Midget · Convertible · Driven 79,000 milesOffering for sale, this unique 1979 MG Midget!Lots of work has been completed.This project retained its Midget identity, but it could be called a “Spridget” since the hood was replaced with a 1964 Austin Healy Sprite, and retains the emblem.(Original MG hood painted to match, included with sale).The improvements gave this MG the preferred retro styling from the 1960s, but retained the later 70s more powerful 1500Spitfire engine.
This car is a beauty and runs/drives great! Upgraded Weber 2BBl carb. Tight clutch and sweet shifting.
Here is a list of work.....previous owners did last year. I have only owned for 8months . Hard to describe experience just fun and all smiles . While I do love this car I just took on two more projects that I need room for.
NEW MG Wheels and Tires!
NEW MG Performance muffler
-New Brake master cylinder
-New gas tank and sending unit
-Wiring repairs and timing adjustment
-New spark plugs, spark plug wires, changed oil, fuel filter
-New battery
-Replaced turn signal switch and horn
-New radio with Bluetooth. New speaker in back, glows red/blue .
The “retro” look was done by previous owner(s). Can’t confirm orig engine but I would bet yes and it is the more powerful 1500cc. Dual single barrel carbs replaced with a newer 2 bbl. Repaired some minor mechanical stuff, added wheels tires and sport muffler.
Have original hood and trunk lid I never put on and has Herbi 53 number on it.
Also have all four original wheels with like new tires .
