Description:

1954 MG T-Series

I am pleased to offer this 1954 MG TF Roadster finished in Almond Green, the car’s correct original color. This is the first time that the car is offered for sale since new. This is a California black plate car that has never seen bad weather and as a result is completely solid and free of rust or rust repair throughout. A matching numbers example (original engine and gearbox), this is the true definition of a California survivor. Over the last 6 years, the car has been overhauled mechanically at a considerable expense, which included the complete rebuild of the original engine. Complete with tools, its original crank, side curtains, service documentation and incredible provenance, this is a TF Roadster worthy of any serious enthusiast's or collector’s consideration. VIN # is XPAGTF30372. Mileage on odometer is 83,450 +/-, overhaul was done approx. 6000 miles ago.
While the paint is worn in places and it has its fair share of imperfections (the most glaring being a scar on the front fender caused by a falling paint can during the Northridge earthquake in 1994), the body could not be any more solid or straight. Each panel and door fits tightly and correctly. The chrome is in excellent original shape, the wire wheels are excellent and the tires are fresh with plenty of remaining tread. The soft top has been replaced and is fully functioning with a clear plastic window. The interior is very well sorted and presents nicely. The seats and door panels are great, the carpets are tidy showing very little age and the side curtains are nice. The car is entirely complete and almost completely original. This example will make its next owner very proud.
Aside from the car’s rare and beautiful original body color and rust free condition, the cars strongest point is its mechanical running condition. The compression on the engine is perfect. The car always starts right up with no smoke or hesitation. The original gearbox shifts as it should with no grinding.
Notes from the Owner:
After a long weekend tour with the car, we can say the suspension is tight through canyon roads and on the highway and the XPAG engine outlasted just about every other British sports car that participated. This is one fun little sports car that is ready to be driven and toured as is, but if its new owner wanted to perform a mild cosmetic restoration, there is no better platform available on the market.
