1965 MG MIDGET (Rebadged to Austin Healey Sprite)
1965 MG Midget
The Sprite was the original small roadster manufactured by BMC, it was later rebadged to MG Midget to benefit from the MG name in USA. This car was acquired by the seller from the previous owner who did a complete restoration ending in 2002. It has been driven a few thousand miles since the restoration, It has been stored indoors, The car was media blasted down to bare metal, repainted in black acrylic enamel, and the painted in Titan Red. Prior to the paintwork, corrosion issues were addressed with the floor being cut out and replaced. The suspension was upgraded with new shocks including tube conversions on the rear. Silver 13'X5' Minilite style wheels with Goodyear Corsa GT tires were fitted.
The Original 1098cc engine was replaced with a newer 1970 1275cc unit that was rebuilt and bored to 1330cc. The engine features a Kent 255 cam, aluminum cylinder head, new twin SU carburetors with K&N air cleaners. Dyno test after the upgrades showed 92hpup from the original 65hp. A Petronix ignition was installed along with a new wiring harness. A newer 4 speed transmission replaced the original, the rear axle ratio is 3.73:1.
The top, tonneau cover, and interior are covered in black leather or vinyl. The cockpit is in excellent condition.All the gauges and switches are functioning correctly except the fuel gauge which reads low.
The trunk area is clean with matching Minilite wheel and tire. Included are covers for the tools, tonneau frame, and top frames
