1964 MG-TC & Trailer
1946 MG TC
1946 MGTC
This MGTC was purchased in England by an American serviceman who owned the car until his death and was purchased by the present owner in 2004. The features and improvements made are as follows;
The original color was black which was stripped to bare metal, primed and painted red. The engine, axle and differential had a complete overhaul. The original 4 speed transmission was replaced by a fully synchronized 5 speed overdrive transmission. The original Bishops steering box was replaced by a modified Datsun steering gear conversion.
It has a Whitworth veneer dashboard with restored and re-calibrated gauges by Nisonger. The top and ½ tonneau was replaced by a Kimber Creek top and a tonneau custom made by Muncie Imports and Classics. The car has Aero windscreens, wind wings, seatbelts, and side curtains.
Other components that have been replaced are a laminated wood steering wheel, Alette horn, FT 27 fog lamp, telescopic rearview mirror, new floor covering, new foam in seats, water pump, brakes, shocks, suspension, battery, new fuel tank, muffler, tail pipe, driveline, master brake cylinder, king pin, distributor, coil, fuel pump, water temperature/oil pressure gauge.
There is also a copy of the "Original Bill of Sale" dated October 10, 1946.
Additionally, there is a 2004 Pace American 16-foot trailer with a full vinyl floor which includes an EAZ LIFT weight distribution system with adjustable ball & hitch and (4) 5000# cargo straps and D-rings for sale.
Finally, at the GOF 2015 held in Indianapolis, the theme was "Wheels & Wingsâ€. Vintage MG cars and vintage airplanes were at the car show. The owner thought it would be a hoot to transform his 1946 MGTC into a 1940 Spitfire aircraft. The wings, tail assembly and propeller were attached to the MG. All of the materials including the brackets, nuts & bolts, etc. are included. This would be a great project for a car show or parade. Since the current owner has no further use for the Spitfire TC, this will be their gift to the new owner.
The longest trip ever drove in this car was when 5 of us in MG-T's caravanned from Indiana to Minnesota to attend a GOF. The round trip was 1302 miles and the owner did not have any mechanical problems. The car is mechanically sound and "is a driverâ€
