1974 1/2 MGB

This is a 1974 ½ MGB Manufactured by BMC / British Leland. There were 7445 produced which 6521 were exported to the United States. As of 5/1/2017 the odometer reads 62,600 (Original Miles).

This is a nice looking car, and I get compliments everywhere I take it, but I do not want to deceive anyone. This is NOT a new car. If you’re looking for a ground up restoration, that is perfect, this is not for you. If your interested in an MGB that you can drive, looks good and don't mind improving the details (or not) please read on.

PAINT

It was repainted Brilliant Silver Metallic in 1996, and the paint still looks good. At the time of paint job, it had some rust that was removed and replaced with metal. The kick panels under the doors were replaced with fiberglass ones, and I’ve never had a problem with them. There are a few very small nicks and small dings that you can see if you look for them. The only real bad spot on the paint is on the left rear quarter panel. It has a couple of small bubbles on the bottom side. (Pictured)

Note: Paint is Sherman-Williams Base-coa, Clear-coat : 1995 Mercedes Benz Brilliant silver Metallic

ENGINE

The engine runs well, and smooth. It has the factory Twin S.U HIF carburetors.

New Alternator and water pump have been installed.

CONVERTIBLE TOP

The top is fairly new. The car has not been driven more than 50 miles since it was replaced. It does have a very small scuff in the driver side front. (Pictured)

TIRES

The tires are bad. They hold air, but I’m not certain how. The spare is also included.

BRAKES

Manual brakes, so you have to push on them.

New Master Cylinder was just installed. Brakes do work, but mechanic said the driver’s side front caliper was difficult to bleed and may need replaced.

INTERIOR

The interior is only fair. Interior looks OK at a glance, but there are small imperfections. The dash has an after-market dash cover on it that looks good. The front face of the dash has a couple cracks or bad spots. The seats are just fair also. The driver side cushion is smashed down a bit, but is still comfortable. The Masonite inside of the door panels are warped a little. It has an old, cheap radio and speakers, but they do not work. The fuel gauge worked before new fuel tank was installed, but is not working now. Not sure what the issue is.

OTHER

New Fuel Tank

New Alternator

New Water Pump

New Brake Switch

Almost New Battery

Convertible top cover

This has not been a daily driver for 15 years, a once a month trip down the road has been the extent of its travel. Car starts easy. It has the factory manual choke which does require a little practice.

This car does look nice, but I want to straight with the buyer: There are several small

bits and pieces, occasional creak or rattle, and imperfections that could be fixed if so desired.
