74 MGB Roadster CB, Factory OD, Matching numbers, One Owner, Clean
1974 MG MGB
74 MGB Roadster Teal Blue with Autumn Leaf interior (Original colors) and brand new tan Robbins top with zip out window. This car is among the last of the chrome bumper models produced and is a one-owner and matching numbers car with factory OD. There are not many matching number MGBs around anymore. That makes this one kinda special. With the matching numbers it has the correct pedigree to be a show winner!
Besides being super reliable it also drives great and you could drive it anywhere. I have no problem keeping up with or passing traffic on the interstates. Engine pulls very strong with uprated pistons and cam. You can feel the extra ponies from the uprated engine rebuild. It is rock solid at normal highway speeds and well beyond. The Minator alloy wheels and Fuzion tires are a great combination. Head has been redone with hardened seats for unleaded fuel. I have basically rebuilt this car from top to bottom so all the major mechanical systems have been renovated and brought back to excellent operating conditions. See the extensive list of projects done below.
This is great opportunity to own a classic that you can drive right away at a reasonable price. If you prefer lying on your back underneath your MG with oil dripping in your eyes to driving it then don't buy this one. There are plenty around that you can work on. It is really a great driving car and if you drive it you will know what it felt like to drive a new one. If you want additional photos let me know and I will get them for you
I have added photos of the engine bay and trunk. I cannot provide photos of the bottom yet as I just had a new driveway put in and cannot drive on it for a week. Once the concrete cures I will take to my mechanic and see if I can put it on a lift. All that said, there is no rust on the bottom aside from some very light surface rust. The car still has the original castle rails. As far as I can see there is no rust on the inner sills either. I bought the car with a hard top on it and I believe that this saved it from the usual rust that develops from inside the car. The trunk is also rust free (except very very light) surface rust. No speaker holes in rear bulhead either. I had the fenders off and there is no rust under the fenders or on the outer sill or trumpet. I did have some rust repaired at the doglegs in the usuall spot. The bumpers are original and as is well known in the MG community re-chroming them would be a better option than purchasing new replacements. As desribed this car is a really fantasticdriver but if you want to winCarlisleImportswith it then it would need to be taken to the next level.Very very solid and straight car.All repairswere kept to the original specs except the uprate engine. All 18V engines should get this treatment anyways.
