1957 Mercury Custom

1957 Mercury Custom located in Connecticut USAThis car is a 4 door hardtop with detailed custom bodywork and paint, replaced and rebuilt engine and drivetrain with new interior finishes. The engine is a Ford 390 FE 4 barrel intake with only approximately 3k to 4k miles on engine and transmission. Exterior paint is a bright green metallic with pearl white roof and side trim with green undertones. A high quality beautiful paint finish that turns heads! The interior is white and green with white leatherette tuck/rollinserts and green vinyl.Car has been restored and well maintained and cared for over the years and always garaged. It runs and drives great. It has been in my family for nearly 50 years and means a lot to all of us. It was taken to many car shows over the years and won multiple awards. The car was driven to Indiana from New Jersey and back in 2018 to Custom Car Revival car show (about 1500 miles round trip) with no issues! EXTERIOR:

High quality paint finish.

Custom bodywork with fenders and body molded into one piece.

Car has been nosed and decked with door handles shaved (open doors thru vent windows).

Car with diagonally canted quad Chrysler headlights and rear 59' Cadillac tail lights and front parking lights

(Original car had horizontal quad headlights - the 57' Merc was the first production car to have quad headlights).

Re-chromed original front/rear bumper and front grille.

Dual dummy spot lights and laker pipes.

Tires are Diamond Back wide whitewalls with California smoothies and bullet caps.

Original Turnpike Cruiser skirts.

Dual frenched power antennas (not currently working).

Stainless exhaust tips.

Chrome electric wipers and stainless steel arms.

Green neon under car! (front, back and sides)

ENGINE / ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

Engine is Ford 390 FE 4 barrel intake (Replaced and completely rebuilt in 2017) - Approx. 3-4k miles on engine and trans. (61,361 current odometer reading - true mileage unknown).

Edelbrock carburetor.

NOS rocker arms.

Mallory distributor cap and coil with Taylor 8mm lime green wires.

Replaced 100 amp alternator.

Custom heavy duty radiator with front mounted Derale electric fan on thermostat.

Custom stainless steel battery cover.

Ooga horn.

DRIVE TRAIN:

Replaced and rebuilt FMX automatic transmission with Lokar shifter on floor.

Rebuilt front end.

Replaced drive shaft with new universals and new axle bearings.

Rear spring de-arched with new leaf added.

Replaced air shocks. Gauge on dash with interior controls.

Rebuilt brake system with drums and wheel cylinders.

Replaced gas tank.

Diehard battery replaced 3 years ago.

Odyssey battery (in finned aluminum battery box in trunk) powers neon under car and high intensity running lights.

INTERIOR:

White interior tuck and roll leatherette (sewn in, not pleated) with green vinyl.

57' Merc deluxe steering wheel.

Chevy SS front bucket seats (green neon under).

Heavy duty push button start switch.

Autometer Golden Oldies gauges (fuel, voltage, temp, oil).

Lokar shifter with Genie shifter adapter for large green dice.

Flamed style window cranks with green dice.

Embossed and raised flames on door panels and headliner.

62' Falcon aluminum console with chrome fire extinguisher behind console.

AM/FM CD player in glove box (loose, not mounted).

Undermount heater under dash (No AC).

Electric fuel pump (in addition to mechanical pump) activated with original push button control (R Button).

Chrome fan mounted on dashboard.

Spare tire in truck with white tuck & roll cover.

Trunk fully finished and carpeted. Trunk contains a custom built platform for Craftsman 3-drawer tool box (comes empty).

Note:

Some paint scratches and chips exist as is normal (decals conceal a few small imperfections). Some pitting on rear chrome wheels (can be buffed out). Visually the wiring under hood and below dashboard needs tidying up and organizing. Right rear window shows slight crack.

Overall car is in excellent conditionand ready to cruise around town. It turns heads and gets attention anywhere you go.
