1971 Mercury Capri

The is a classic, increasingly hard-to-find Capri, built by Ford of Germany and left in original condition.
Kept in a barn in Northern New Jersey after being purchased from an owner in California, this snappy coupe - with just under 50,000 miles on the odometer - is in good shape for a 53-year-old.Its European 1.6L Kent I4 engine starts, runs and idles well. The 4-speed manual gearbox works fine as does the clutch. The brakes seem OK as do the electrics.
The body has minimal rust; there are a few spots that can be fixed relatively easily. The frame appears rust-free.
As happens to cars that were daily drivers before being rescued by aficionados, sunlight made some of the Capri’s vinyl upholstery brittle and caused it to separate and split, as shown in the photos.
With only a little TLC, this car can be awesome. Drive it "as is" or restore it as a collector's item.
