Vehicle Details

Vintage Survivor 1962 Mercury Comet project car 302 C6 Auto. Good used Driver condition. Clean open title. About 15 years ago this car was a father son project at this time all suspension and drivetrain was fully rebuilt with new springs, brakes, ball joints, tie rods, bushings, control arms, etc. The car still drives and rides good. I would estimate it has about 25000 miles on it since rebuild. A 1968 302 was also rebuilt at this time with .040 flat tops, RV cam, heads were machined and unleaded valve seats were installed with new guides and 3 angle valve job, engine is equipped with an Edelbrock Aluminum intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, Hooker Headers with 2.5" dual Flowmaster 40 series mufflers, It has a somewhat desirable Small block C6 trans that was also rebuilt at this time and a new performance converter was installed. The rear end is a ford 8" open with hiway gears I was told 2:79 ratio from the previous owner. Recently the car has had a few small spots repaired in the original floor with new metal welded in and seam sealed with undercoating and new carpet with insulation. The original pans were very nice and had only small thin spots that needed patching so full pans were not needed. The original front and rear frame rails and rockers are in amazing rust free condition. This body is extremely solid for age. It has had 1 amateur paint job over the original Wimbleton white paint and from what i can tell it has all original body panels (except the hood may not be original) with very little body filler. The car is rolling on a brand new set of American racing Torque Thrust 15" rims and tires with less than 250 miles on them. Car also has a nos Holly 600cfm carb, new fuel tank and sending unit, new Battery, new wiper blades, etc. All gauges and dash lights work. All glass is crack free. Doors and trunk open and shut good, windows all go up and down as should. Aftermarket stereo but dash is uncut. The speakers needs replaced, I bought this car about 1 year ago and have been working on it in my free time and got it to a point where it starts easy and runs good but I think it would benefit from tuning, timing, carb adjustment and jetting, etc. The trans is strong with no slipping and shifts awesome manually but a little quickly when in drive I think the modulator needs adjustment or replacement and the kickdown lever needs the correct Holley adapter. The brake pedal feels great and the car stops good and even but I think it would brake better with new shoes I think these are glazed from age. The turn singles both work but don't lock on you have to hold the lever. The heater core is leak free and the blower motor is strong but the heater switch needs replaced as it don't fully turn off until you turn the key off so I unplugged it. The car is over 60 years old so it shows age and wear and has some squeaks and rattles but other than that it is a solid turn key unit. This car is located in Ofallon Mo 63366 about 30 miles west of St. Louis about 2 miles off hwy70. I have only put about 250 miles on it over the last year and only about 10-15 at a time it has never left me stranded but I cannot say if it would be dependable to drive a long distance home so unless your close I would recommend a transport service. Because of age and condition this car is being sold as is for parts or repair / restoration. If you the potential buyer want to set it up I am more than willing to take the car to a garage local to the Ofallon Mo area for an independent inspection.
