1963 Mercury Comet

Honored to once again be the caretaker for 'Miss Pickles'. An OUTSTANDING 1963 Comet Custom. Why Miss Pickles you ask? Well, Beatrice Pickles was this car's original owner. We can just picture Beatrice as a school teacher or librarian. She very obviously loved this car as it appears she kept it until her death or close to. Unfortunately we were never able to get the whole story behind this incredible survivor.

It appears Miss Pickles second caretaker performed a cosmetic restoration at some point. The paint is not original and is an ABSOLUTE SHOW QUALITY job. The code correct Pacific Blue paint on this car is one you could literally dive into. Hardly a flaw to be found. A very expensive process no doubt. All the chrome, stainless and aluminum trim is NOS quality. If not original. Perfect in every way. Even the wheel covers look new out of the box! We just can't brag enough about the quality of this car.

The interior appears to be completely original and is a 8.5 out of 10 in our book. Just amazing throughout. Some minor staining on the headliner is all we can really point out. From the dashboard, to the door panels to the seat fabric and vinyl, it's beyond comprehension. Beatrice must have been OCD.

Mechanically, she's got the 170 straight six that's mated to a two speed, Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission. Certainly no speed demon but we assume was plenty enough to get Beatrice to Sears and the Green Stamp Store.

I personally owned this car for several years as part of my own collection, always calling it 'a keeper'. I showed her and she won prestigious awards against cars three and four times her value. The car just floored everyone that saw it. I eventually did let it go. Only with the promise, I get first refusal when the time came. Well, the time has come. They just don't show off Miss Pickles as much as she deserves and I'm working hard at getting my business going and being successful, so here we are. Here under consignment. I suspect she won't be here long. Just make sure you are up to the task to be this marvelous 'Miss Pickles' next caretaker.
