Description:

1965 Mercury Comet

This 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente convertible whose DSO code indicates a “special order” making it very rare, is finished in light blue over a blue vinyl interior and powered by an A-code 289ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a dark blue convertible top, a matching top boot, quad headlights, 14″ styled steel wheels with whitewall tires, a heater and defroster, and a wood-rim steering wheel.
Originally finished in Polar White, the car was repainted in its current shade of blue under previous ownership and features bright trim along the rocker panels and wheel arches. Additional exterior details include stacked headlights, immaculate chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, and tri-color fender badging. Two patched tears in the blue soft top are shown up close in the gallery below. A dark blue convertible top boot is included in the sale.
Styled steel wheels with Mercury-logo center caps measure 14″ in diameter and are wrapped in 215/75 Hankook Optimo H724 thin-whitewall tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.
The interior features two rows of bench seating trimmed in blue vinyl, and matching upholstery extends to the door panels. Appointments include lap belts for front and rear occupants, vent windows, a heater and defroster, Comet-branded floor mats, and woodgrain trim on the dashboard and doors. The push-button radio does not work.
The A-code 289ci V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor, a blue air-cleaner assembly, and matching valve covers. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery.
