Beautiful 1960 Mercury Montclair four door hardtop. The ultimate in early 60's cool. 13 year ownership. In that time I have had the body stripped down to the bare metal and repainted. The only places where there was any rot were on the door edges. Those areas were fixed with metal. I have the pictures showing the car as it was stripped down. The paint and bodywork is 13 years old and still looks gorgeous. Over the years, 've had the bumpers, rille, oor handles, nd other trim rechromed. This alone cost a pretty penny. The car has 58,900 miles on it.The 430enginebeautifully. The power steering pump, hich mounts on the crankshaft has also been replaced. While that was being done, had the timing chain and gears changed out to remove the notorious nylon coated gears. The front end, teering box, ag joint, nd springs have been either replaced or rebuilt. The power brake booster has been rebuilt and for safety's sake, have changed out the 'suicide' single master cylinder with a dual master cylinder. It retains its front drum brakes which were rebuilt last year. I also replaced the other brake lines at the same time.Rear axle seals/bearings, ear oil replaced this past summer.The car retains its original door panels and headliner, hich are in beautiful condition. The carpet and seat covers have been replaced. The only flaw is a crack in the dash near the speaker. I just put a "Do not touch" sign over it when I take it to shows/cruises. No one has ever noticed. Both engine compartment and trunk are nicely detailed. This is a multiple show winner. If you want something that will stand out, his car is it. In all my years of ownership, have never seen another '60 Mercury at a show. Personal inspection encouraged, s your idea of perfection may differ from mine.
