Yes, you may have seen this car on eBay a few months ago.I purchased the car, had it shipped from NY to CA at great expense. Verified the VIN, transferred to a clear CA title.It is a gorgeous car and I love her but...family emergencies and sudden travel opportunities are forcing me to sell. I don't have a garage and storage is pricey. Also, It sits for weeks sometimes without me driving it. So, I have to sell even though I've only owned it a couple of months.
I have invested over $12,000 so far in purchasing the car, transport, mechanic evaluation, registration, etc. I know I'm not making that back!
PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT A MECHANIC. I HAVE VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ACTUAL MECHANICAL ISSUES IN THIS CAR. I will do my best to share the info I do have as well as my experience.
My experience so far: Car starts right up and runs, but chokes and/or dies sometimes when I haven't been able to drive her for a few weeks. Fun to drive despite no power steering or power brakes (brakes took some getting used to! Pads are still at 95% but I'm used to my little Toyota.) I HAVE NOT DRIVEN ON FREEWAYS, only local streets. I'm putting in the gas additive each fill up, easy to do and a bottle is only about $3.00. Passenger door can be sticky and needs a good shove to align with body. See photos - the passenger side was crunched a bit many years ago so glove box shows dents and passenger side door is a bit wonky but shuts tight and looks good. I noticed muffler connection is rusted when I was under her putting on the plates. This probably needs to be fixed. Brake lights work, turn signals work. Transmission feels great, really smooth and no issues, no rolling. Wipers work.
Back Seat is not attached in place.
I brought the car to a custom restoration mechanic ($$$) and they recommended a lot of tweaks to get it to perfect. This car would provide an excellent hobby while still being driveable. That mechanic removed the hubcaps and didn't put them back but the hubcaps are in the trunk and ready to go. I don't have time to hammer them on.
Car comes with a TON of extras including repair manual, NOS uncut keys ($35, custom protective cover ($150), lots of new chamois and cleaning cloths, Extra set of rear taillight lenses (cat eyes only on two year models, always have back ups ready!) and even a mini pedal car that was painted to match. Super cute!
