Car History
This all original fully documented 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis was purchased by James E Horner on April 4, 1977 from Grice Motors Lincoln Mercury dealer in Marion Indiana, who opened their doors on June 6, 1944.James bought the car from Jimmie Lee Mitchell (salesman) for $8,096.40 cash.James drove the car off the dealership lot on April 6th after the car had been undercoated. The warranty card has an in-service date of April 5th, 1977.James E Horner bought the car and drove to church and to occasional card game.James kept all records and receipts for this car, state inspection, oil changes, gas receipts and dealer service records along with hand written notes on gas mileage and car performance. When the car was not driven it was parked in James's large heated building with the rest of his collection.
Unfortunately, James pasted away in 2015, his best friend, brother-in-law and car collector George Hamby bought the 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis from James's widow.George bought the car on July 7th, 2015 with 6628.2 original miles. George had the car inspect from front to rear installing a new battery and tires and had the car professionally detailed.George drove the car to local car shows taking best in class, most original and factory stock.
Sadly, George pasted away February 2019.George had 9 cars in his collection and before passing he gave all 7 of his grandchildren a car. After his passing his family auctioned off the remaining two vehicles. The 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis was one of them.
I bought the car on May 23rd, 2019 with 6741.6 original miles.
The car has gone through a thorough inspection by Powergrid Performance in Novi Michigan. The car received a tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, ac system check and charged and radiator flush. Both front window actuators have been rebuilt using OEM parts and the carburetor has been rebuilt using OEM parts and tuned to factory settings. The vacuum head light switch was also replaced as the original switch did not hold vacuum. The car has been professionally detailed inside and out, a ceramic coating applied to the paint and the alloy wheels are polished to a chrome like finish by Novi Auto and Truck in Novi Michigan. No expense was spared in revitalizing this automobile. Everything works as expected.
The paint has 2 scratches (less than an inch) on the front of the car, the rest of the car paint and chrome are almost perfect, there are no dents or dings in the car and no scratches in chrome. The interior is perfect with no ware marks, no sun fading, no rips, no tears and no cracks in any of the plastic or dash.It has the original "Mercury" labeled floor mats front and rear along with the original 8 track tape that Mercury gave with the car.All cigarettelighters have not been used and all work.
The car drives and rides like brand new.Looks as if it just rolled off the dealer lot.The car comes with all original documentation listed below, along with a Deluxe Marti Report. Documentation is preserved in plastic folders displayed in binder.Car has both original sets of keys with the original dealership key chains.(Keys: Ignition Key (2) trunk key (2) Gas cap key (2).You will not find a better documented ultra-low mile Mercury in the world for sale.Currently the car has 6934.1 miles on the odometer.During my ownership it has been in one car show where it won best in class judges' choice. This car gets more attention then most of the 60's muscle cars, it has a beautiful stance with an elegant appearance that demands everyone attention, along with the ultra-low miles it is show stopper and a must have for any enthusiast or for your Ford/Mercury collection.
