Description:

1965 Mercury Comet Caliente 2 door hardtop

1965 Mercury Comet Caliente 2 door hardtopThis car is an original 289 A-code/ 3 speed car and, was originally red w/black interior. It still wears it's original vin and trim tag.
The Comet is powered by a 302 SBF that appears to be internally stock. It sports an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley 600 vacuum secondary w/electric choke and, finned aluminum valve covers. It has true dual exhaust w/Flowmaster mufflers that exit under the rear bumper. Shifting is done by a Hurst shifter connected to a 3 speed transmission and, run through an 8" rear end. The car runs good and cool and, drives as it should. The brakes and shocks were replaced by a previous owner. I recently installed new MOOG tie rod ends and, new Jegs SportStar wheels w/new tires!
The interior has just been freshened up with new door panels, arm rests, kick panels, package tray, dash pad, new "Auto Gauge" tach & gauge trio, recovered original seats and, new weatherstripping throughout! All headlights, tail lights, blinkers, etc are functional w/ new bulbs throughout including LED tail lights!
This car shows well for a driver and is a good "20-footer”. It looks to have had a partial repaint at some point and does have blemishs. There is very minimal rust over the rear wheels, lower fenders, and a spot or two on the doors. The original trunk pan is in great shape! A previous owner installed floor pans in the car. They are decent and very solid, but not show quality. I recently cleaned and resprayed the underside with black undercoating.
This is a good little car that shows well, and will make someone a great driver/ cruise in car or, take it to the next level! Please ask any questions that you may have! If you have a questionable feedback score, minimal transactions or, anything that throws up a red flag please contact me before bidding. I do reserve the right to cancel your bid if that step is not taken. $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction end. Full payment must be received before the car leaves my property. Buyer responsible for all shipping charges. No warranty of any kind and sold as-is. This is an Alabama car so, it is sold with a bill of sale only. If that is an issue for you, please contact your DMV on how to obtain a title from a non-title state.
