Description:

1972 Mercury Cougar CONVERTIBLE XR7 351C

I have a 1972 Cougar for sale.
The interior shows well as it was redone about 3 years ago. No rips as you can see.
The custom 17 inch Scott Drake Legendary wheels are brand new as are the tires. Less than 100 miles on them.
The windshield was just replaced a couple days ago.
The power top motors where rebuilt about 2 years ago and work well with no issues. The top is in very nice shape.
The 351 Cleveland was rebuilt, but I'm not sure how many miles ago. When it was rebuilt a 4 barrel Holley carb and Edelbrock Performer intake were added along with a mild cam. I'm sorry, I don't have the cam specs. The car runs and drives great. New dual exhaust with turbo mufflers. We had the valve covers off and re-sealed them and the heads were fresh and clean, no gunk or sludge at all. The chrome is in nice shape. The sequential tail lights work just fine. The power brakes were completely gone through about 2-3 years ago and the front end was also rebuilt around that time. The bad news. I bought the car thinking I would have fixed all the little issues, then I would have my paint and body guy do the body. Well, he's moved and I no longer have a good cheap reliable paint and body guy.The body is solid as a rock. The only spot of rust is in the drivers side rear quarter and it's not even that bad. There's a picture of that spot in the photos. The rest of the body, floors and torque boxes are solid as a rock and rust free. The car is such a solid car, I was really hoping to get the body done.A new project has presented itself for me and I need to move this one on as is to make room.If you're local, please come by and take a look at her.The worst part about the body is that through the years, everytime someone scratched or chipped the car, the guy brought out his paint brush with a can of white paint and touched it up. Of course the touch up white does not match the white the car was painted with.
I tried showing some of those areas in the pictures.I have a couple videos of the entire car. If I can figure out how to post them I will do that.Maybe I can just email them to you or post them on my friends youtube account. If I knew body and paint, the car would not be for sale. I wish I could find cars like this in Chicago when I lived there. It's amazing what a dry climate can do for these cars. I was told the car was always an Arizona/California car and it shows.
If you're a paint and body guy and want a nice rust and rot free car, this may be the ticket.Any questions, just ask. I'll get you photos of anything you may want. The car really is a nice solid chunk of metal, not some body filler nightmare.I think a $500 non-refundable deposit will be accetable to hold the car till you can get a transport to pick it up.The rest of the balance to be paid in full before the car is picked up.If you are shipping outside the US we can meet the transport for loading, but will not make arrangements for you.I may be forgetting something, but just ask if you need any clarification on anything. Thanks for your time.
