1964 comet caliente convertible v8
1964 Mercury Comet caliente
a great car to restore,or can be driven as is with very little effort,,basically the car fires up, runs good, drops into gear, shifts fine, brakes work fine, would run better with a carb rebuild and would sound better with one passenger side collector gasket, also known as a donut exhaust gasket, a cheap fix ! interior was dyed white, the car was tan with a tan top and a tan interior. the body needs work and paint and the inner rockers are shot, good for a driver but need replacing for restoration, the power top is in good condition with no holes or tears and powers up and down fine off of the dash switch, lights work, heater blower works, wipers work, charging system works, has a new master cylinder and a new brake line and a new battery. i take a ride in it once a week to keep it going. most 1964 comets were 6 cylinder 4 doors, there are some 2 doors out there, hard to find a stock 260 v8 2 door convertible though. drive as is or restore it but your starting with a running 260 v8 with a good trans, good brakes and a good power top ..have a few items to go with it like: i have a seat belt kit, the steering wheel center, trunk weatherseal for it, a parade boot kit, a radio {condition unknown but its stock} and a few other small items all in the trunk. all glass is fine, only exception is the passenger side rear window is off the track, glass is good but needs to be re-attached to the track, all the rest roll up and down fine..its a project car but its also a drives ! this is a no reserve auction, $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours, no exceptions, not sure if you want is ? then please do not bid, feel free to call for more info, stop and see it, take a drive in it or ask for more photos and i'll send them,,nothing hidden, no surprises, ask away,,this is a no reserve auction, high bidder wins. i'll work with your shipper to help load which is no problem, it fires up and drives fine...happy bidding....someone asked if i could deliver to new jersey,,i do have a trailer for local delivery about 30 miles or so but we can discuss that after the auction. On Jun-22-18 at 07:24:11 PDT, seller added the following information:
i will post responses to all questions here so i don't get the same question twice, had a caller today 6/22/18 ask about what it needs to be a driver. as is in the ad, the car fires up, runs well and drives as is. it has a little hesitation that would be resolved with a carb rebuild. thats about it. the exhaust is tight and sounds good but the passenger side collector gasket, commonly know as a donut gasket where the pipes join is bad on passenger side, its a cheap part but needs to be done on a lift. is can be driven as is but it would quiet it down under the hood with that replaced and would be better to replace i, with that replaced, it would be pretty quiet under the hood. the car is manual steering and manual brakes. brakes work fine, i believe it was originally power steering but the pump is missing so it could be put back to power steering with a pump and lines. otherwise drive as is. basically the engine runs good, the trans shifts good, the brakes work good, the lights/blower/wipers/dash lights all work..

just a note: i have had about 6 offer for trades, there are bids on the car and it is a "no reserve" auction, so will likely be sold. but will consider trades after the auction is over in case there is a jack wagon bidder involved, which happens lots on ebay
