1973 MERCURY MONTEGO #21 PUROLATOR CAR-All original minus paint scheme & decals

1973 Mercury Montego Black

This is a custom designed replica of the Wood Brothers Mercury street version racecar. It is not a track car with a roll bar, but is an excellent driver restored car that can be enjoyed driving at any time. David Pearson drove the #21 Purolator car to defeat Richard Petty in the memorable Daytona 500. The car evokes nostalgia to all classic racing fans that appreciate the Golden Age of Stock Car Racing. The car was painted by Michael Brogel in Orange County, CA some time ago. Michael was certified by Rolls Royce in the 1970's and has been painting custom cars for over 30 years including contract painting jobs by Boyd Coddington in the late 1990's. The car was painted some time ago and has very little patina. The white and red NASCAR paint scheme shows well.
Hope you like the car as much as I do. I'm a huge NASCAR fan from the golden age of Nascar. This car can be driven home, wherever you may live. Never overheats or has issues restarting in Los Angeles type hot and humid weather. All windows roll up as they should. All door molding is original and in good shape.
This is a All original Marti Report Montego with custom features to replicate the #21 Purolator car David Pearson raced with on the Nascar circuit. Many new parts and restoration funds were used to make this a daily driver, if desired custom car mechanically sound.

*2017 light restoration included the following:
*Matching numbers engine refresh-351 Cleveland
*All 4 tires are 3 months old
*New radiator hoses and cap
*Gold flake painted Chip Foose Signature Rims
*Hoolman Moody cam, New points, distriburtor, cap, New starter solinoid
*New valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires, New battery and both battery cables
*New alternator, starter, radiator, all new fuses, gas tank was totally flushed with new fuel sending unit
*New brake booster, New front brake pads, New rear brake drums, spring kit and cylinders were all replaced
*Rebuild of original carburator/kit package by Walker*Oil changed 2017
*Custom duel exhaust to replicate the NASCAR original car-Don't start driving in the early a.m. or you will certainly wake up the neighbors
*Red and White #21 Purolator Paint Scheme--Seems like thick laquer paint
*Original bench seats per the Marti report with no holes or creases present-They were originally brown and I had them professionally sprayed black in the rear.
*The heads were removed and cleaned by a machine shop in Long Beach.
*New AM/FM/CD player and speakers, new carpet kit, Dash seems to be original and is not cracked
*All lights and horn work.
No leaking of oil or tranny fluid. (I am in deep financially on mechanical labor and parts receipts) Car needs headliner and I have all rods.
11/13/17--THE FRONT SEAT IS BEING PAINTED BLACK BY THE PROFESSIONAL UPOLSTERY SHOP. INTERIOR AND TRUNK PICS WILL BE POSTED THIS WEEK. THE ENTIRE CAR IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO RUST. Most of these old Mercurys have rust and metal issues. This is a California Car and to the best of my knowledge has ever been out of California. It appears evident, the only body filler on this car came from the factory. A new passenger side mirror will be installed.
