Description:
1960 Mercury Colony Park Woody
Last year of the 1950's hardtop station wagons and widely viewed as the best looking of the Mercury models, this original California car actually spent the younger part of its life at a Catholic parish rectory having been donated to the nuns by the original owner! Now it's worthy of being shown at the Peterson Museum or driving anywhere or both! It could be the classy, comfortable, reliable and vintage woody premier station wagon. It could be the ultimate surfer wagon. It could be the family fun day at the car show blue ribbon robber (and has been), and it could be the heavy-duty vintage camper utilitarian hauler. IT IS ALL OF THESE AND MORE! High end and top drawer with all factory available working options including original Lincoln 430 cubic inch V-8 power plant, A/T, P/S, P/B, P/W, A/C (working and COLD!), PDL, AM/FM, matching colors tinted glassand all systems fully functional including cigarette lighter (never used-ashtray never seen cigarettes) and clock (converted to quartz). Very rare and always garaged and excellently maintained and most of all loved. ABSOLUTELY NO EXPENSES SPARED to date, not to mention always winning top awards at car shows beating the plagues of the all too common '57 Chevys!Wagon is well represented with a U-tube video courtesy of Dennis Cage at his "My Classic Car" website. Seller's Revised Notes:
The onlysignificant issues regarding this entire wagon are:
1) Windshield has very minor chip (may be repaired) but glassis also in reproduction with blue band green tint for $499 (Ebay item number 301848004667) plus shipping and installation. The windshield is otherwise excellent and this minor chip needs to be mentioned because it is there, not necessarily because windshield is bad.
2) Front seat shows minor wear needing upholstery work to be as nice as the back seat. Purchase comes WITH PROVIDED original NOS vinyl yardage sufficient to complete front seat project.
The interior is very good original overall and especially clean. It has neverseen cigarette smoke. With the exception of the front seat, it is extremely presentable as is. Since most of it is original and not restored like the exterior, an objectivecritical eye would rate the interior components as follows:
Dash pad replaced as original and is excellent. Steering wheel has been re-painted. Original carpet is very good and fine as is. Interior painted trim is original and clean but has a few marks and scratches as to be expected. Door panels are very good with a little minor sun fadediscoloration on the tops. Door arm rests are excellent. Wind lace around interior door panels has a few loose threads. Cardboard headliner segmentsare very good with no holes, punctures, ripsor tears and can simply be repainted in matching turquoiselatex semi-gloss to be excellent. Back seat is excellent. Floor kick panels in the front need to be redone with the correct green vinyl yardage (provided). Cargo area is especially very good. The points made in this paragraph regarding the interior are maybe overly criticalsince theymay not necessarilybe seen in the pictures but honesty is my policy. Interior is very good overall and especially clean for it's age and low mileage.I would honestly suggest just re-doing the front seat and kick panels with the provided vinyl and maybe re-painting the headliner cardboard segments. If you want to finish the interior to the standard of the exterior, your money spent will only double or triplethedifference in the car's appreciation in value beyond your purchase price here.
Recent notable mechanicalrepairs include new Coker wide whitewall radial tires, brakes, wheel cylinders, power brake booster, carburetor rebuild, transmission service, air-ride rear shocks and most recently a new A/C compressor and NOS clutch, expansion valve, and R12 freon charge for the original optional factory air conditioning climate control system. Fully functioning climate control system. Never wrecked. No rust whatsoever. No fillers. Runs and drives excellent and will take you and your family anywhere in classy complete Mercury-Lincoln-like comfort and style.
