You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the current owner who has owned this vehicle for the last 9 years. It was originally sold in Monroeville, PA on May 10th 1973. The original owner then took it down to central Florida where it spent most of its time. He has the "Marti Report" showing all the original options and decoding the numbers proving how original and correct this vehicle is. (View photos of the Marti Report.) This well equipped convertible has only 58,943 original miles and is extremely clean and detailed. Body & Paint: The vehicle is very solid and still retains all of its original body panels and sheet metal. It was repainted with the correct original "Medium Copper Metallic" (Code 5M) color sometime before the current owner purchased the vehicle in 2008. The paint is in great condition. It has a deep shine with very little to no orange peel. A few small stone nicks have been properly touched up. The lower XR7 pin stripes were painted on just like the original ones. Looking down the sides, the body is very straight without any major door dings or any other body panel problems. It is equipped with a dealer installed rear mounted spoiler. The paint color looks great along with the white convertible top and white leather interior. Convertible Top: The current owner has installed a new high quality white soft convertible top including new pads and cables. A new glass rear window was also installed. It fits correctly and looks great without any wrinkles, marks, or other problems. The power top pump, cylinders, and mechanism are all operating great without any problems or issues. The white convertible boot fits tight without any ripes, holes or marks. Chrome & Trim: All of the chrome pieces on the vehicle are in excellent condition without any pitting or dulling. The chrome bumpers are great with only very minor patina after 44 years. The front bumper has the optional rub strips. The stainless steel moldings are also in great condition. They are free of any dings, dents, or major scratches. The vehicle has all the correct Cougar XR7 emblems and other trim pieces. The front grille, light bezels, dual outside color keyed racing mirrors, door handles, are all in great condition. It also has the factory sequential taillights which are working without any issues. Interior: The vehicle still has its original interior. Yes, this is all original. White leather buckets seats with ginger appointments. (Trim Code: D3) It is in outstanding condition. The leather seats are holding up very well. There is one small imperfection in the drive's seat back. (see close photo.) The door panels look great without any cracks or other problems. The original dash pad along with the wood grain bezels and glove box door are all very nice. The center console with floor shifter also is in great shape. All of the factory gauges and other items are working great. The factory air conditioning has been converted to R134 and blows cold but may need a quick recharging. The only things that are not working is the factory clock and one of the turn signal indicators. (Burnt out bulb in instrument cluster.) All of the chrome knobs, handles, buttons and levers look good. The factory AM/FM radio is working great. The steering wheel does have a few cracks and missing pieces. (See close up photo.) It is equipped with a tilt steering wheel. The original carpet is clean with only minimal wear and fading. The original Cougar floor mats are still inside the vehicle. Color matching deluxe seat belts. Engine Compartment: Under the hood of this classic is the original 351 cu. in. Cleveland V8 engine. Again, there are only 59,000 original miles on this vehicle. The engine is working great without any ticks, smoke, leaks or other problems. The engine compartment is very original and stock looking. It still retains most of the original factory stickers, labels, markings, and finishes. Very clean and highly original. The vehicle is equipped with power steering, and power brakes. The battery was replaced a few years ago and is still very strong. Trunk Compartment: The trunk floor pans are original and rust free. The compartment is clean and looks like it did when it was new. It has a stock looking plaid design trunk mat, spare tire cover, spare tire along with the correct jack and jacking tools. The white convertible top boot is also kept in the trunk. Glass: All of the vehicle's tinted glass window pieces are still original including the windshield. They all have the correct factory markings and logos. There are in great condition without any cracks, scratches, or stone nicks. The side windows roll up and down with ease. No known problems. The weather stripping is in good condition as well. Wheels & Tires: The car sits on four 17" Coys wheels. These five spoke alloy wheels are finished in gunmetal gray with a polished outer stainless trim ring. All four are in excellent condition without any problems, scratches or scuffs. Mounted on these wheels are Falcon performance tires. Front: 225/55ZR17 Rear: 275/50ZR17. They are in great shape with only minimal miles on them. The vehicle drives down the road straight without any vibrations or pulling. Chassis & Undercarriage: The underside of this vehicle looks as good as the top. Very solid and original looking. There are no signs or evidence of any work/repairs ever being done. The underside is clean and stock looking. The dual Flow Master exhaust system is in great shape and sounds awesome. Mechanical: The entire drive train is original to the vehicle. (59,000 miles) This 351-2V Cleveland engine is running great and is very strong with no known problems. It doesn't tick, smoke, or stumble. There is some very minor oil seepage due to the vehicle not being driven as much as it should. Feeding this power plant is the original 2 barrel carburetor. The blue factory air cleaner sits on top of the carburetor. The car runs cool and doesn't over heat with a newer original style radiator. The battery is newer and strong. Power Steering, Power Brakes, and Air Conditioning. The factory C-6 automatic transmission shifts nice and easy. No leaks only minor seepage from the lack of being driven. The stock floor shifter works smoothly and looks great in the center console. The non-posi 2.75:1 rear differential is working great and does not make any noise. The front and rear brakes are new and have been adjusted correctly. The vehicle has a great stance with air shocks in the rear.
