This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350 SL is a modified vehicle with updates to the exterior and interior. The owner has had it for 7.5 years. The vehicle runs great and is used as a daily driver.

Car is mechanically sorted with a recent valve job (guides and seals), original transmission rebuild in 2021 (less than 5000 miles ago, and a plethora of various D-jetronic components to make it run properly. Per mechanic, timing chain has no slack and thus is not in need of new tensioner or guides, however, I do not have any records prior to my taking ownership in 2017.
Cosmetically, the car is very presentable, but approximately two years ago I was faced with some peeling clear-coat which I was convinced could be re-applied without a total repaint. The result was sub-par and various areas with small dings and scratches were touched up in an obvious way. While inoffensive, the car would benefit much from a repaint.
Interior is very nice—I had the seats re-covered in a custom pattern using 560SL seat backs, new burlwood trim, and later 3-point belts installed. I still have all the original interior fitments, including the old seat backs and two-part belts, and these will be included.
One crack in the dash that is not visible to driver or passenger whilst riding in car, on the top right side of the instrument cluster.
The right side door moulding does not stay in place and the air conditioner does not blow cold, although I am awaiting an appointment with my mechanic for diagnosis and possible repair. Per his recollection from a prior service, all A/C hoses appeared to be original and thus has not been converted to R134a.
Original Becker radio is also present.
Car has European-style headlights and 16” Penta/Ronal wheels.
Left front fender was replaced at some point in the very distant past. I am the third owner since 2017, and the previous one owned it since 1987. There are no records from the second owner, but I have all records since I have owned it, and all work has been done at a Mercedes specialist with more than 40 years’ experience.
The car has its hardtop, but has been taken off to air out the soft top, which needs to be replaced. A replacement German new old stock canvas top in black will be included.
The door and window seals should be replaced.
I am confident that this car will not disappoint from a mechanical, reliability, or performance standpoint and is very acceptable cosmetically. Inviting anyone who wishes to view the car locally to do so, and I am happy to bring the car to the mechanic of your choice within a 35 mile radius for assessment.
Purchased a 1988 300SL Euro car and have no need for two 107s.
May consider trades in full or in part for very early grand pianos (pre-1810) or antique harpsichords, as well as antique string instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, double basses, and viols.
Also may consider trades involving gold and silver coins or bullion, Herschede tubular chime grandfather clocks, genuine AMG M103 engine parts, other mechanically sound Mercedes cars equipped with the M103 engine (190E 2.6, 260E, 260SE, 300E, 260TE, 300TE, 300CE, 300SE, 300SEL, 300SL/300SL-12V), as well as mechanical work from a reputable Mercedes shop (for either a 1988 300SL or a 2008 C300 or both).
Car is currently being driven regularly, approximately 200 miles per week. As of this writing, the mileage is just over 130,000. Videos under different driving conditions are available by request.
