This is a lovely 1981 Mercedes 240D. It has been taken excellent care of. The previous owner told me that it had been garaged about 30 years. The interior is immaculate. The differential was changed to a newer one for lower RPMs and better fuel mileage. It actually sat in the garage unused since November and I got in and it started up after one try. I mainly would only drive it in nice weather. I had the air conditioning recharged, but it lost the charge although it did work. The heat works, but I'm beginning to smell some antifreeze meaning it may need a heater core before long. The garage photo is where it sat all winter.It has new tires, it also had the shift bushings replaced. Very solid when you get in and drive it down the road it tracks very straight. I bought it from a man who was in his 90s and lost his sight. He was going into a nursing home with his wife and both of their cars were sold.Driving this, there is a little snob appeal, for lack of a better word. It sits apart from all of the other cars around me as being classy and elegant. I wouldn't sell it, but I have a serious project going on and having to raise cash so now I am having to sell a couple vehicles.I've read that these are million mile vehicles if basic care is followed.The lower front valance has some surface rust which is not bad. The really thick Undercarriage rust proofing has one spot that you can see a rust spot but really just needs to be resealed.
