1980 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class
Moved to Italy and now it's time to sell my burgundy girl. 1980 450SL convertible. Good driving condition overall, but with a little bit of love could be excellent condition. Clean interior, black leather seats not cracked at all, upgraded stereo system. A/C doesn't work, but windows are electric and fuses have just been replaced. I have owned the car for the past 5 years and done regular maintenance on it as well as mechanical repairs. All records are available to review. Passed CA smog this year. Convertible top is working but a replacement would really be a small investment with a big improvement. Could use new driver/passenger floor mats but not essential. Front suspension needs work. Battery is new, brakes are new, exterior paint is clean.
The Mercedes 450SL was built between 1973 and 1980. As 1980 was the final year of production, very few were brought to the US. Most Collectors view the 1980 as the most desirable version. Due to its limited production and end of model status, car guides show a an increase in value between the 1980 version and earlier model years. Many Mercedes experts and mechanics stand behind the 4.5L as the best engine Mercedes ever made. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. I dont think I've ever stopped at a light without having someone roll down their window to compliment the car. She really is a beauty with a very special color that you don't see everywhere.
