1984 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

A friend of mine knew i was looking for this car since I owned one just like it 20 yrs ago. He purchased it from the original owner for me in November 2017 and I purchased it from him on November 17, 2017, I guess you can say I got it from the original owner with 176,543 miles. The car now has 183,552 miles, only 7,000 miles driven in 6 yrs, averaging 1,100 miles a year. I also got the history of this car from a family member of the original owner. The owner was a school teacher who lived in New Jersey but was teaching English in Germany. As she was moving back to the states, she bought this car direct from Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart, Germany, for 50,630.00 DM ($25,000 US) and had it shipped back to NJ. I have all the original sales documentation, shipping documents, Sales Agreement stating the owner had to pick up the car at the factory and the original license plates that came with the car. Prior to my picking up the car, my friend who is a Mercedes mechanic and owns several 300D's and a 300TD wagon, serviced the car with new brakes and rotors, new motor mounts, new transmission mount, valve adjustment, new belts, new filters, changed all fluids, new tires, new passenger side rear axle, installed a new radio and antennae, and changed all fuses to copper type.
PERHAPS THE MOST UNIQUE THING ABOUT THIS CAR IS THAT IT COMES WITH FACTORY INSTALLED FRONT HEATED SEATS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE WITH THEM! It also has a factory installed retractable rear window shade. The clock and power antennae work, and the cruise works intermittingly, which is always a problem on these 300D's. Just passed NY inspection in September 2023. Car is not a smoker and no blow-by. Comes with various extra bulbs and switches.
Since I took ownership I have had the following maintenance performed:8/20/2019 - 178,925 miles - new tires and rear stabilizer cams, and new A/C Dryer8/12/2021 - 180,725 miles - new rear brake calipers, pads, and brake lines11/8/2021 - 181,436 miles - new Die Hard battery11/12/2021 - 181485 miles - new front drivers side caliper, brake pads and brake line11/18/2021 - 181,497 miles - oil change and filter with Mobil 1 05/4011/25/2021 - 181,568 miles - new glow plug relay7/20/2022 - 182,900 miles - new ignition lock and key tumbler - now have two different keys, one for door locks and one for ignition8/18/2022 - 183252 miles - new thermostat and short 1 1/2" x 2" water pump hose9/16/2022 - 183,301 miles - replaced left rear trailing control arm w/ new bushings, new inner and outer bearings, new left rear axle and new coil spring, and both new rear shocks10/15/2023 - 183552 miles - Changed power steering fluid and filter
This car has been well maintained and is mechanically sound, but please note that while this car is a real head turner and when I am on the road it gets plenty of compliments, it is 40 years old and has signs of it's age. I am listing the things that I want to be upfront and honest about regarding it's condition. Buyer is purchasing on an AS/IS no refund basis.
1. The paint is fading and the clear coat is peeling in places. I included in the photos the locations where this is noticeable (see the front passenger side fender - two photos)2. There are two small rust spots on the front hood (can be seen in the photos)3. There is signs of rust on the drivers side rear wheel well (see photos)4. Both sun visor mirrors are broken5. The driver's side A pillar fabric is torn (see photo)6. The storage webbing behind the passenger seat is detached7. The dashboard has a few sun cracks8. The front passenger heated seat works but the drivers seat must have a short, when I put the heat on the radio fuse blows.9. The lower side of the driver's seat has a tear in the MB Tex10. The A/C works but needs a refrigerant charge, it was not used at all this past year. The heater works fine.11. The rear drivers side window just recently stopped working, I have new switches that I haven't installed.12, The vacuum door locks do work but there must be a slight vacuum leak because if you don't lock the doors quickly with the key, they won't lock. The key will only open the driver's door until the vacuum leak is repaired.

This car has been a real joy to own and drive, I have also enjoyed caring for necessary repairs to keep it mechanically sound. The car starts up as soon as the glow plug light goes out, and has been a very dependable weekend driver. We are planning to move out of state and don't want to take both cars. So I hope whoever buys this vehicle will get as much satisfaction out of owning it as I have.
Buyer is responsible for shipping or pick up at my location, and payment must be secured with cash or Venmo. I require an immediate $250.00 (non-refundable deposit) after auction ends. Due to non-paying buyers, if you do not make the deposit or contact me after the auction ends, I will assume you are a non-payer and will offer the vehicle to the 2nd chance buyer. Vehicle must be paid in full within 7 days.
Vehicle cannot be released until paid in full. Payment will be by cash or Venmo. PayPal is not an option. This is an AS/IS, no warranty purchase with no refund.
