1985 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Featured here is this stunningly beautiful classic1985 Mercedes 380SE. This is the magnificently engineered, full-size S class luxury four-door sedan. This was considered to be one of the best four-door cars in the world in that era. This car is powered by a fuel injected, eight cylinder overhead cam motor with the odometer showing 164,000 miles. The car has a four-speed, automatic transmission, four wheel disc brakes, ABS, power, steering, power, windows, and a whole host of safety and engineering options that made this perhaps one of the safest cars ever built. We believe the paint is mostly original and it’s Stilton retains most of its original fantastic shine. There are some small faded spots on the roof, but the majority of the car is as nice as our pictures clearly show. We believe the interior to be the original leather and it is in fantastic condition (and extremely comfortable and roomy). The car is also remarkably fast and smooth. A real German Autobahn car!
Mechanically, the car has new, premium quality radial tires, all the alloy wheels have been powder coated, all the brakes, including rotors and pads have been done, the fuel tank was cleaned out and restored, the fuel pumps were replaced, and the car had all of the oil and fluids replaced. It also just went through a major tuneup. In fact, well over $5000 was spent on this to make it mechanically sound. This is an entry-level vintage collectible car, but was an incredibly expensive car went new. In fact it cost well over $30,000 in 1985 era currency. There are a few items that would need replacement or updating for the collector, but do not impact the operation of the car. The sunroof, for instance, is in working condition, but the drains need to be cleaned up. We don’t know how to do that. We therefore had a mechanic use a light silicone sealer to prevent leaks from hard, rain, storms, or going through a car wash. we also removed the insert panel to the inside of the sunroof and that insert needs to be replaced. The only other item that shows poorly from the aesthetic standpoint, is the rear windshield which has fogging in the corners as shown in several of our pictures.
Once again, everything else on the car, from the seats, carpets, door, panels, chrome, trim, and of course, the paint work, is in excellent condition. This car starts, run smoothly, drives incredibly well, and is quiet and safe. This car is so nice looking, that it was recently rented out as the backdrop for a wedding. The car is storage in a heated, garage and under a car cover.
We did a basic Carfax type report, and there was no indication of any previous mileage issues, accidents, or theft.
Terms- we will be selling this car at a low starting bid and at no reserve. The winner of the auction will submit a $500 deposit to hold the car until such time that they can come out to do a direct inspection or arrange for shipping to their home location. The VIN number is WDBCA32C8FA146988-
Prospective bidders are also welcome to come out to drive and inspect the car in person. It is located in St. James Maryland, which is close to Hagerstown Maryland. Sales would be final in the event that the winning bidder elects to have the car shipped to them without conducting an in person inspection, or picking up the car directly. Please bear in mind that the car was built in 1985 and it is therefore an older vehicle, and we do not represented as perfect or without the issues that we have mentioned. But as you can see from the pictures, it is an outstanding condition, and is one of the most beautiful cars of the 80s.
