Clean, original, unmolested car: I purchased this car from what was believed to be the estate of the 1st owner, a business executive from NY who had homes in Florida and NY. The car comes with all the original MB manuals including the engine and chassis breakout parts diagram manual, complete with every part number listed. It also has the original window sticker showing this this car was purchased from Estate Motors in Westchester County NY. The seller stated to me the car has always been looked after by professional Mercedes mechanics. It appears to have been garaged and well cared for its entire life, and was always garaged under my ownership.
In preparation for this sale, the 450 had the following work performed: new professionally installed navy German soft top with all new seals. Complete fluid change (brake, antifreeze, transmission, and differential). A new water pump and climate control system module ($2200) from Mercedes has been installed, so the heat works perfectly. The AC could use a recharge, as it is blowing warmer this year than it has in the past. The muffler and center regulator with all the associated hardware have been replaced. The car Idles smoothly, and accelerates without hesitation, shifting with ease through every gear. It steers and stops straight, no rattles or strange noises. Tires are in perfect condition and ballenced.
The paint and body show very well; shiny and clean. I don’t know if it was ever repainted, but it looks great. There is no rust or dents on or under the car, no signs of previous body damage. The exterior color is No. 737 Classic White, and interior is 102 Blue MB TXT. The interior is in great shape (NO rips or stains), as is all the trim, wood and carpets. The Heat and original Becker radio work very well as does the original Hershman electric antenna. The trunk is equally clean, no blemishes on the carpets or the trim, no stains, or smells. The spare tire is in the trunk and looks like it has never been used. It’s accompanied by the jack and the full original set of MB tool kit. Car also has the original color matching hardtop in great shape.
This beautiful 450SL has current NJ historic registration and clean NJ title in my name. I’ve owned it for over 8 years and love it, but I have too many cars and I don’t get the chance to drive them all. It’s time to give this 450SL a new home.
