TWO Mercedes 190ds - 1961 and 1962

Price: - Item location: Grand Junction, Colorado, United States
Description:

1962 Mercedes-Benz 190-Series

Check out these funky vintage Mercedes 190d’s! I’m listing these for my grandpa; he had a vision to turn these two cars into one, but he has too many projects and the time has come to let them go. Here's what I know about them.

TL;DR: The white car has a good body and frame but is missing a few parts, many of which could be taken from the black car whose body and frame are in less nice condition. They run but need batteries and TLC. Both have good engines and some spare parts. According to my grandpa, both cars ran about a year ago and "crept around the yard".

WHITE CAR:

1961 Mercedes 190d

Odometer reads 35578

VIN: 10-038437

Chassis No. 121110

Engine Compartment:

Engine does not leak or smoke. It has a block heater. There is no visible leakage or seepage. There is some light surface rust. The heating ducts are cracked through and need to be replaced. It needs a battery, wiring overall looks good.

Exterior:

Body is clean and straight, very little rust. It needs a new windshield (the one on the black car is in better shape, not perfect). The rest of the glass is still good. This car has a higher trim level than the black car, with 4 body-color painted hubcaps and leather interior. The chrome trim is missing on the front fenders and driver door, the rest looks good. The front turn signals are missing their glass but side turn signals are intact. Headlights look good, taillights are somewhat cracked and faded but intact. Driver's side mirror is missing its glass. Rear bumper is somewhat warped, not too bad. It needs tires. Underneath the car there is some peeling of the protective coat and surface rust.

Interior:

It has its original ashtrays and the indicator gauges look good. Pretty much the rest of the interior needs to be redone, potentially using the seats from the black car and reupholstering them. The black car also has extra door panels which could be used.

Parts:

There are some extra parts in the trunk including struts and possibly a drive shaft and part of a steering assembly. Contents of the trunk are pictured.

BLACK CAR:

1962 Mercedes 190d

Odometer reads 96184

VIN: 10-0-2237

Chassis No. 121110

Engine Compartment:

Engine does not smoke. This engine has oil on it. There has been some seepage around the head gasket but it is not wet or actively leaking. The heating ducts are missing and it needs a battery. This engine appears to have had more work done to it, as some parts look newer including the oil pan.

Exterior:

Body is mostly clean and straight, but shows more rust and wear than the white car and the floor pan is slightly bowed. The front passenger chrome trim is missing, the rest looks good, including the driver's side trim that's missing on the white car. The front and side turn signals and headlights are all in good shape. The tail lights are intact but faded and the passenger one has a crack and a pea-sized hole. The fuel door lock is missing but the cap is fine. The glass is all intact with the exception of 2 chips in the windshield. One could be easily sealed, the other not so much, it's about the size of a dime and fairly deep but does not penetrate. Underneath, there is some peeling of the protective coat and surface rust in the back. Underneath the front has almost no surface rust. There is no oil on the oil pan and it appears to have been replaced at some point.

Interior:

The cloth and vinyl interior is dirty but in okay shape otherwise and some of it could be salvaged. As mentioned, these seats could potentially be reupholstered with leather and put in the white car. The wood floor panels are very cracked. This car comes with the original Mercedes Benz catalog and owner's manual, pictured.

Parts:

There are some extra parts in the backseat and trunk including 3 interior door panels in fair condition, possible transmissions and clutch assembly, and more unidentified parts. Contents of the trunk are pictured.

Thank you for your interest in our listing! We are offering these cars together for $5000 OBO. Serious offers will be considered, please bear with me as it may take me a day or two to check with my grandpa about offers or any questions you may have.
