In 1986 when Mercedes Benz shipped their most powerful SL to date to the US, it cost over $48,000 and by 1987 the MSRP was $56,000. That was a lot of money in the late 1980's. To say only the rich and famous were driving them was an understatement. Not only was the 560 the most powerful it was also the most dependable out of all the SL models to date. Perfect, low mileage examples are fetching north of $55,000 as of late.
